Il y a de cela quelques jours, j'ai commenté la publication de mon confrère Dimitri DOSSA sur l'intégration du web3(dApp) dans les entreprises du Bénin. Et il m’a répondu en demandant mon avis sur le cas d'usage du web3 qui serait le plus impactant pour l'économie béninoise ? Je n'ai pas réfléchi une seule seconde avant de répondre… Au Bénin, l'agriculture, c'est le poumon de notre économie. Elle fait vivre directement près des deux tiers de notre population active et pèse pour environ 30% de notre PIB. Pourtant, nos héros en bottes et en machette font face à des défis de géants :  • SANITAIRES : En cas d'alerte sur un produit, comment retracer rapidement toute une chaîne pour protéger les consommateurs et notre réputation ?  • SOUVERAINETÉ : Comment planifier une stratégie nationale de souveraineté alimentaire sans données fiables et infalsifiables sur nos productions ?  • VALORISATION : Comment nos producteurs d'anacarde, de coton ou d'ananas peuvent-ils percer sur les marchés internationaux qui exigent une traçabilité certifiée, un gage de qualité et d'équité ?Ces questions, sont celles qui me viennent répétitivement à l’esprit quand je parle de la blockchain. Une solution concrète pourrait être @conçue pour les réalités de notre terre?Avec un principe simple, mais puissant : en scannant un produit, on révèle instantanément l'identité de celui qui l'a cultivé, la parcelle précise, les pratiques culturales utilisées, les certifications obtenues et chaque étape de son parcours. Toutes ces données seront enregistrées sur la blockchain, inaltérables et vérifiables par tous, de Djougou à Cotonou.Ce serait un projet sur lequel on aura tout donné mon équipe #EQUINOXE_Nexus et moi. L'impact pour le Bénin serait triple :   – Sécurité sanitaire renforcée en identifiant la source d'un problème en quelques clics.   – Souveraineté alimentaire assurée grâce à une cartographie fiable et en temps réel de notre production nationale.   – Valorisation à l'international de notre "or vert", avec une traçabilité certifiée qui ouvre les portes des marchés les plus exigeants.  Un secteur qui nourrit la majorité des Béninois mérite une infrastructure du 21ème siècle. Et nous allons prouver que nous avons le talent pour la construire ici, au Bénin. As part of the program, extension officers received technical training focused on key aspects of data-driven soil management, including: • Analysis of essential soil nutrition indicators • Hands-on field data collection • Interpreting and applying data in technical recommendations Alongside the training, Enfarm provided several handheld soil analysis devices to support field practice, enabling officers to gather data 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐲, 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲, thereby improving the quality of advisory services and helping farmers make more informed production decisions. A moderate keyword search on the IP India website using the terms “artificial intelligence” AND “agriculture” shows an average of 250 fresh patent filings in 2025, which represents almost a 90% increase from 2024 and over 150% increase from 2023. The Ministry of State for Agriculture has projected growth from USD 1.7 billion in 2023 to USD 4.7 billion by 2028, with a CAGR of 23.1%. The 2024 WIPO Patent Landscape Report also acknowledges India as a key location with the fastest growth in priority filings of international patent families, highlighting the rapid adoption of AI-enabled digital technologies in the agricultural sector over the past five years. Digital tools and applications for better farm management practices are increasingly gaining traction. A notable feature of many of these patent applications is the drafting style, which emphasizes system implementation, tangible hardware integration, and real-time data analysis. These filings demonstrate measurable technical effects, such as improved pest and disease identification, soil factor determination, and assessment of suitable farming conditions. The outcome of such innovation is higher crop yield, controlled wastage, optimized resource use, and more predictable farming operations. If these filings continue to mature through strategic prosecution, they are likely to result in positive grants, thereby strengthening India’s IP ecosystem and contributing to its global patent index. AI in agriculture is no longer a conceptual promise; it is actively transforming the sector and shaping India’s innovation trajectory. 🚀 Excited to share my Design Thinking project – Krishi Kavach! An AI + IoT prototype built to address a real agricultural challenge. Over the past few weeks, our team developed a Smart Animal Detection & Farm Protection System, designed to help farmers reduce crop losses caused by stray animals entering farmlands. 🌱 Why This Project Matters Farmers across India face major crop damage due to animals intruding into fields. Our goal was to understand this issue deeply and design a solution that is simple, affordable, and non-harmful. 🔧 Prototype Development Our system was built using: • YOLOv8 (Ultralytics) with OpenCV for real-time animal detection • Arduino Uno for hardware integration • Buzzer + LED alerts when an animal is detected • Pandas to collect and log real time detection for data analysis • Complete Design Thinking workflow from empathy research to prototyping 🛠️ Tech Stack Python · OpenCV · YOLOv8 · Arduino Uno · Serial Communication · LED · Buzzer 💡 Key Learnings I gained hands-on experience integrating AI + IoT, building functional prototypes quickly, working with real-time CV models, managing software–hardware communication, and applying Design Thinking to solve real-world problems.
