When I posted about planting pepper on trays, a lot of questions came in: “Can I do the same with kales (sukuma wiki) and spinach?” The answer is here. Yes! You can. And just to remind you, farming does not entertain laziness,except me. You must put one seed per hole in the tray. We also said you don’t use normal soil. Just walk to the nearest agroshop and ask for planting media. Class dismissed! ~Village-based investor (VBI)

Grateful to see my internship evolve into a peer-reviewed research milestone: I’m extremely happy to share that the work I started during my Summer Internship at IIIT Bhagalpur has now grown into a full-fledged research paper titled: “Automated Real-Time Monitoring System for Early Plant Leaf Disease Detection Using Deep Learning”, which has been accepted and included in the 2025 IEEE 3rd International Symposium on Sustainable Energy, Signal Processing & Cybersecurity (iSSSSC 2025), organized by GIET University, Odisha. 🌱 How It Started — My Summer Internship Project: During my vacation internship, under Dr. Om Prakash Singh sir (IIIT Bhagalpur) I built an AI-powered plant disease detection system capable of identifying multiple leaf diseases in real time. What began as a practical project slowly evolved into a detailed research problem, leading to a full academic study backed by deep experimentation, comparisons with SOTA techniques, and a working web application. 🌿 What the Research Achieves: Based on the PlantVillage dataset of 23,000 images (38 classes), our system: Uses EfficientNetB0 + MLP for high-precision multi-class classification Achieves 97.92% accuracy, 98% precision, 98% recall, 98% F1-score Handles class imbalance through class-weight strategies & augmentation Visualizes disease regions using Grad-CAM heatmaps, outperforms several existing deep learning approaches. 🌾 Why This Matters: Plant diseases destroy nearly 40% of global crops each year.
