THE GREENHOUSE ROBOT PROJECT IS PROGRESSING SUCCESSFULLY Some time ago, we launched a campaign to support a promising and innovative product idea with pro bono industrial design services. Among the applications we received, we selected the greenhouse robot project submitted by Sistematik Robot for the real-world problem it addresses, its technological potential and the value it could create in agriculture. We did not approach this as a closed design project in which only the final product would be revealed. One of the key conditions of our offer was to share the project’s development stages, making the process of transforming an industrial design idea into a mature product visible. Sistematik Robot embraced this transparent approach, and our collaboration began on that basis. Today, we are pleased to announce that the project is progressing very successfully. The process began with an assessment of user needs and operating conditions. It is now taking a more tangible form through the development of the product architecture, usage scenarios, fundamental layout decisions and overall design language. Together with Sistematik Robot, we are carrying out a strong product development process in which technological expertise and industrial design advance towards a shared goal. In the coming period, we will continue to share the project’s different stages, the design challenges we encounter and the solutions we develop. Because we see value not only in the final outcome, but also in the journey and design decisions that lead to it. The development journey of the greenhouse robot continues. Cette microforêt est installée dans le parc de l'ITH - Institut Technique Horticole à Gembloux. Le terrain a été occupé très longtemps par une serre, qui a été démontée. L'institut a souhaité expérimenter un nouveau modèle de jardin en ville sur un sol compact et dégradé. Les arbres ont été plantés en février 2022 avec la participation des étudiants et de riverains. Le grand avantage d'une microforêt créée selon la méthode Miyawaki est de nécessiter très peu d'entretien. Elle est autonome au bout de 3 ans. Elle continue à évoluer librement. La microforêt s'intègre bien dans le projet paysager. Le quartier bénéficie d'un cadre de vie agréable où la nature s'exprime pleinement. The Profitability Conversation Nobody Wants to Have Client asks: "How will you make my farm profitable with this cost?" Most vendors answer with optimistic projections and promised ROI. I answer with a spreadsheet. Here's what I've learned: profitability isn't about me. It's about whether your farm's fundamentals are sound. Take a 1-acre coloured capsicum polyhouse. Real project economics: • Total CAPEX: ₹89 lakh • NHB subsidy (50% for protected cultivation): ₹44.5 lakh • Your actual investment: ₹44.5 lakh • Production target: 60 tonnes/year • Market realization: ₹70/kg (not ₹100 optimism) • Annual crop revenue: ₹42 lakh • Operating income (Year 1-2): ₹22–25 lakh • Built-in assumptions: 5% plant mortality, market variability, wastage uncertainty That's achievable. Not miraculous. But real. Here's what most vendors skip: the variables that determine success aren't in my control. What actually matters: ✓ Did you choose a crop with real market demand in your region? ✓ Do you have buyers locked in—or are you betting on the mandi? ✓ Can you manage input costs (seeds, fertilizers, pest protection)? ✓ Is your electricity reliable? Your water source solid? ✓ At 1 acre, does the math work if yield drops 20% or prices dip? My job is to operate your farm at maximum efficiency. It's not to create markets, negotiate prices, or guarantee yields. If the fundamentals are weak, no management fee will fix it. If the fundamentals are strong, disciplined operations transform potential into reliable returns. This is why at HydroCore Solutions, we always say: Feasibility first, agronomy always. Before we deploy labour, before we talk farm management costs, before we commit capital,we need to be brutally honest about whether this makes sense. The subsidy helps significantly.
