Funding: US$50,000
The Smart Africa and FAO initiative is supporting AI-driven solutions addressing climate and agricultural challenges, including climate-smart agriculture, precision farming, smart irrigation, crop monitoring and farm management technologies.

Zimbabwe is among the eligible countries.

2. Social Shifters Global Innovation Challenge 2026
Funding: Multiple awards of up to US$15,000
A global opportunity for youth-led startups and projects creating measurable social or environmental impact. Agrifood systems, climate and sustainability-focused ventures can be relevant.
Deadline: 31 August 2026
Applicants must generally be youth-led founders aged 18–30.

3. SEFAA – Social Enterprise Fund for Agriculture in Africa
Funding: US$300,000–US$2.4 million
SEFAA provides growth capital to viable agricultural enterprises that improve productivity, market access and financial inclusion for smallholder farmers.
The financing can take the form of debt, equity or quasi-equity, so this is investment capital rather than a conventional grant.
Geographic focus: Selected Sub-Saharan African countries
Funding: US$300,000–US$2.4 million

4. Common Fund for Commodities – 29th Call for Proposals
Funding: Up to US$1.5 million
This is particularly relevant to established agribusinesses, cooperatives and organisations working across commodity value chains.
Priority areas include agricultural value addition, AgTech and digital tools, smallholder farmer finance, women entrepreneurship and sustainable value chains.
Deadline: 1 October 2026
Important: this is financing through loans and other debt instruments, not a traditional grant.
