We were honoured to see His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio and the First Lady visit the SLARI exhibition booth, recognizing the critical role of agricultural science in Sierra Leone’s transformation. Key Highlights of the President's Recognition: SLARI's Leadership: Sincere commendation for the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI) and its research station for putting "research at the service of farmers." Their work has delivered new high-yield, climate-resilient varieties of rice, maize, and cassava, driving productivity gains. Strategic Partnerships: High-level recognition for our international partners, including the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), represented by Dr. Tahirou Abdoulaye and Dr. Alfred Dixon, for their essential collaboration in building research capacity. Infrastructure Appeal: A commitment to strengthen the core of our agricultural future by appealing for urgent support to repair and equip SLARI's research infrastructure. We must ensure our scientists have the facilities they need to succeed! It was inspiring to have the President underscore that every dollar invested in Sierra Leone must unlock the potential of a Sierra Leonean farmer.
