

I’m pleased to announce the publication of our review paper “Fusion of Robotics, AI, and Thermal Imaging Technologies for Intelligent Precision Agriculture Systems” in Sensors Q1 (Vol 25, Issue 22).

In this work, together with my co-authors Ahmed Emad, Fares Fathy, Abdallah Alzogby, Mohamed Sallam, Eslam Naser, Mohamed El-Sayed, and Esraa Khatab, we explore how Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Thermal Imaging are being fused to revolutionize precision agriculture.
🌱 Why it matters:
With the global population expected to reach 10 billion by 2050, the need for sustainable, efficient, and intelligent farming systems has never been greater. Our study reviews the convergence of robotic automation, thermal sensing, and AI-driven decision-making for smarter crop monitoring and management.
🔍 Key contributions:
• Comprehensive review of sensing, automation, and AI technologies in precision farming.
• Analysis of deep learning architectures (e.g., VGG16, InceptionV3, MobileNet) for crop disease and stress detection.
• Discussion of real-world challenges: cost, lighting variations, canopy moisture, and micro-climate impacts.
🎯 Implications:
The synergy between robotics, AI, and thermal imaging is paving the way for next-generation smart agriculture — improving crop health, optimizing resources, and promoting sustainability.
