Founded (as Mysore Coffee Experimental Station), by Dr.L.C.Coleman, in 1925.
Centenary celebrations - 20, 21 & 22 December 2025.
Theme: 7 Golden Seeds to a Glorious Future of 7 Lakh Tonnes - 7 seeds smuggled by saint Baba Budan, from Yemen Centuries ago and planted in Baba Budan giri near Chikmagalur (Coffee Capital of India with most suitable ecosystem, environment for coffee cultivation) ,
7 lakh tonnes being the coffee production target per annum, in India.
Conference, discussions - covered exhaustively on coffee plantation methods, soil (structure, moisture , porosity, micro nutrients, micro biomes, ph...), water availability & irrigation systems, shades & luminosity (very crucial for the quality of coffee - both varieties of Arabica , Robusta), per hectare yield enhancement, diseases and remedies (including nanotechnology based entomology), IoT, AI Technologies, marketing.
Patronage from the International Coffee Organisation, coffee growers, people into machinery equipment in coffee production and processing, scientists, and all those even remotely connected to coffee ensured a comprehensive festival during all the three days.
The itinerary was complete with visits to nearby Sringeri Sri Sharadamba Peetham on the banks of Tunga River, Agumbe (receives highest annual rainfall in South India , of 7000 mm), Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary, Belur Shri Chennakeshava Swami Temple - unique Architectural marvel of the Hoysala dynasty using soap stone - very intricate carvings and sculptures.
Central Coffee Research Institute brought out a Handbook on Coffee (through the last one Century) in English, Malayalam ,Tamil and Kannada (ಕಾಫಿ ಕೈಪಿಡಿ)
