On enchaîne.

🌱 The future of agriculture is digital. Every day, farmers face the same critical questions: — Why is my crop getting sick? — When should I irrigate? — Where can I find the right machinery? — Where can I buy or sell agricultural products? — How can I quickly reach an agronomist? UFarmer is being built to bring all of these needs into one digital ecosystem. With UFarmer, users can: ✅ Detect plant diseases with AI ✅ Plan farm activities with an Agro Calendar ✅ Buy and sell agricultural products through Agro Market ✅ Find machinery, services, and workers ✅ Get professional advice from agronomists Our goal is simple: Not to give farmers more information — but to give them the right tools to make better decisions. 🚜 Modern farming needs modern technology. 🌐 ufarmer.uz #UFarmer #AgriTech #DigitalAgriculture #SmartFarming #Agriculture #Uzbekistan #Innovation

India is the world's second-largest producer of fruits and vegetables. Yet a significant share of that produce never reaches a plate. The scale of the problem is striking. As per the NABCONS 2022 study commissioned by India's Ministry of Food Processing Industries, India loses about ₹1.53 lakh crore worth of agricultural produce every year to post-harvest losses due to gaps across harvesting, handling, transport, storage, and market infrastructure, with inadequate cold-chain capacity being a major contributor. Official govt. & ICAR studies generally estimate physical crop losses of 5–16% depending on the crop. However, you'll often see a much higher figure, around 30–40% wastage, quoted in industry and media reports. Regardless of which estimate you use, the scale of post-harvest loss is enormous. The cold storage India does have is also heavily skewed. As of 2025, about 75% of the country's cold storage capacity is dedicated to potatoes, leaving many other perishables underserved by the existing cold-chain network. The government has tried to address this through schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana and the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, offering subsidies and low-interest loans to build cold storage facilities and pack houses. But much of India's cold storage infrastructure remains centralized, located away from farms, and can be costly for smallholder farmers to access when produce needs to be preserved immediately after harvest. This is the gap Ecozen set out to solve. Founded in 2010 by three IIT Kharagpur alumni, Devendra Gupta, Prateek Singhal, and Vivek Pandey, the company built two products, Ecotron, a smart solar-powered irrigation pump controller, and Ecofrost, a decentralized solar-powered cold storage unit that can be deployed at the farm gate without relying on the electricity grid or diesel. The idea was simple but powerful. Instead of asking small farmers to transport produce to distant cold storage facilities, Ecozen brought the cold storage to them, powered by the sun. It worked, at least by the numbers available. Ecofrost has been described as a market leader in India's solar cold room space. An earlier company profile stated that it accounted for more than 50% of installed units. As of April 2024, Ecozen's solutions had reached more than 180,000 farmers, helping reduce post-harvest losses, extending shelf life, and increasing farmer incomes by up to 40% in some cases. The company also reported 5X revenue growth and 3X profit growth over the preceding two years, while raising more than $30 million through a mix of equity and debt from investors including Nuveen, InCred, and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation. What makes this story interesting isn't just the technology, it's that Ecozen found a genuinely profitable business inside a problem that's usually treated as a policy failure to be subsidised, not solved. #ClimateTech #AgriTech #ClimateInvesting #VentureCapital

I ask this in almost every session I teach: How does a satellite 400 km above us know your field is in trouble — before you do? The answer usually surprises people, because it isn't complicated. NDVI = (NIR − Red) / (NIR + Red) Two numbers. One division. That's the entire thing. A healthy leaf is doing two jobs at once — absorbing red light to make food, and bouncing back near-infrared because of its spongy internal structure. So: red goes down, NIR goes up. The moment the plant is under stress, that structure starts collapsing. NIR drops. Red climbs. The ratio shifts — often days or weeks before anything looks wrong from a tractor seat. What I find most interesting isn't the math. It's the leverage. A formula a student can write in one line of Python ends up deciding whether a farmer's insurance claim gets settled, whether a district is flagged for drought relief, whether an irrigation schedule changes. That's the part I want people to carry out of the classroom. Not "here's an index." But: here's a simple idea, and here's the weight it carries. If you work in agri-tech, insurance, or policy — what's the one geospatial concept you wish more people understood? #Geospatial #RemoteSensing #Agritech #GISCommunity

🌾 AI Is Quietly Transforming Indian Agriculture When we talk about Artificial Intelligence, we often think about chatbots, automation, and futuristic technology. But some of AI’s most meaningful impact is happening far beyond the tech world — in Indian farms. From predicting rainfall and detecting crop pests to supporting crop insurance and enabling precision farming, AI is helping farmers make smarter, faster, and more informed decisions. The transformation includes: 🔹 AI-powered pest detection 🔹 Localized weather and rainfall forecasting 🔹 Multilingual farmer assistance 🔹 Faster and more transparent crop insurance 🔹 Precision farming and smart irrigation 🔹 Emerging platforms such as Bharat-VISTAAR The bigger question isn't whether AI can transform agriculture. It's how effectively we can make these technologies accessible to every farmer.
