Only 10 days left to apply to what I genuinely believe is on track to become one of Europe’s reference acceleration programmes for #AgriFood ventures 🌱
The Sustainable Food Accelerator, developed by the Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein - Imperial and Undaunted is a 12-month, equity-free programme designed to help sustainable food ventures build the evidence corporates need to pilot and investors need to back.
I am usually quite a hater of acceleration programmes — mostly because some of them end up asking more from startups than they actually give back. And I say this as someone who co-designed and directs the acceleration programme at Misión Andalucía #Agritech
Precisely because of that, this programme caught my attention. It seems to start from a very real problem in #TechTransfer: in science-based startups, the hardest part is usually not having good science, but having the resources to turn that science into evidence, reach the right TRL, access scale-up infrastructure, navigate regulatory and technical questions, engage corporates, attract patient capital and prove that the solution can actually work beyond the lab.
That is why the design feels so strong: up to £100k equity-free funding, access to up to £2M investment, end-to-end scale-up facilities, regulatory, grant and technical support, investor networks and corporate partners with committed pilot budgets.
The programme is looking for startups working on sustainable ingredients, taste, nutrition and performance, sidestreams and low-carbon feedstocks, and scale-up solutions that help bridge the gap to manufacturing.
So congratulations to Rodrigo Ledesma-Amaro, PhD Julia Espeso Bischofberger and the whole team behind the Sustainable Food Accelerator for designing such a complete programme 🌟
It is inspiring to see people I deeply admire building initiatives that help turn science-based ventures into the companies, infrastructure and industrial capacity needed to push the #Bioeconomy forward.
If you are building in sustainable food, #AgriFood, #SynBio or #Biomanufacturing, don’t leave this one for later. Applications close on 21 August 2026 — run and apply ⏰
