US$50,000 for AI-Powered Climate-Smart Agriculture FAO and Smart Africa have launched the Innovate Africa Challenge 2026, supporting proven AI solutions that can help transform agriculture and strengthen climate resilience. The challenge is looking for startups, innovators and solution developers with mature, scalable technologies addressing real agricultural challenges, including: • Precision agriculture and input optimisation • Crop yield prediction and forecasting • Pest and disease detection • Climate-risk modelling and decision support • Water and natural-resource optimisation The selected solution will receive US$50,000 in deployment and validation support, with the opportunity to test and scale the technology in a real agricultural setting alongside government, FAO and Smart Africa stakeholders. This is particularly relevant for agritech and AI startups that have already moved beyond the idea stage and can demonstrate evidence of their solution's effectiveness, scalability and potential impact on farmers. From Learning to Innovation | Our 3-Day Journey with YFDP Pakistan Today, we concluded our 3-Day Online Workshop on Hydroponics & Smart Farming organized by YFDP Pakistan—a journey that took us from the basic foundations of hydroponics to smart technologies, automation, precision agriculture and agribusiness. As participants, we learned about: • Fundamentals and principles of hydroponic farming • Different hydroponic systems, growing media and practical setup • Plant nutrition, pH, EC and water management • Crop selection and management in controlled environments • Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) • Sensors, monitoring and farm automation • Smart farming and precision agriculture technologies • Applications of AI and data-driven decision-making in agriculture • Resource-efficient and sustainable farming approaches • Converting hydroponics into a viable agribusiness • Business opportunities, scalability and entrepreneurial thinking We are especially grateful to our resource persons: Mr. Hassan Bin Munir Research Officer – GreenAI, PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi | PhD Scholar – Horticulture Mr. Muhammad Aqil Khan MS Mechanical Engineering | Research Officer – Precision Agriculture, Green AI-NASTP Their expertise, practical insights and guidance helped us understand how modern agriculture is moving beyond conventional farming toward technology-driven, data-informed and automated production systems. Ce jeu de données est accessible via le lien suivant: https://lnkd.in/ewQsScB3 Le jeu de données comprend les informations suivantes : - Production (photovoltaïque) - Consommation (pompe, fenêtres, instrumentation) - Stockage d'énergie - Réseau - Données environnementales (température de l'air et de l'eau, humidité, volume d'eau) La période d'échantillonnage est de 30 secondes et ce jeu de données sera enrichi au fil du temps. Pour rappel, cette serre est co-pilotée par le G2Elab et de Grenoble INP - Ense3 à des fins de recherches et d'enseignements dans le domaine de l'énergie électrique (pilotage d'installation autonome, prédiction, IOTs, ....). A tractor can work harder without working longer. That sounds simple, but it changes how we think about farm mechanisation. In many parts of South India, the challenge isn’t necessarily access to tractors. It is how efficiently those tractors are used—how accurately they operate, how consistently implements are controlled, how much field time is actually productive, and how little of that activity is recorded. SmartTrac is building around this gap. By retrofitting existing tractors with GPS auto-steering and implement automation, we can improve the machine without asking the farmer to replace an asset that still has years of useful life. Then TracOS adds something equally important: visibility. Every field hour, operation, GPS coordinate and machine activity can become structured data. For a farmer or Custom Hiring Centre, that means better understanding of machine utilisation. For institutions, it creates a clearer picture of what is happening on the ground. And over time, that data can support new opportunities around financing, reporting and carbon credits. The next tractor doesn’t necessarily need to be new.
