From Learning to Innovation | Our 3-Day Journey with YFDP Pakistan
Today, we concluded our 3-Day Online Workshop on Hydroponics & Smart Farming organized by YFDP Pakistan—a journey that took us from the basic foundations of hydroponics to smart technologies, automation, precision agriculture and agribusiness.
As participants, we learned about:
• Fundamentals and principles of hydroponic farming
• Different hydroponic systems, growing media and practical setup
• Plant nutrition, pH, EC and water management
• Crop selection and management in controlled environments
• Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA)
• Sensors, monitoring and farm automation
• Smart farming and precision agriculture technologies
• Applications of AI and data-driven decision-making in agriculture
• Resource-efficient and sustainable farming approaches
• Converting hydroponics into a viable agribusiness
• Business opportunities, scalability and entrepreneurial thinking
We are especially grateful to our resource persons:
Mr. Hassan Bin Munir
Research Officer – GreenAI, PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi | PhD Scholar – Horticulture
Mr. Muhammad Aqil Khan
MS Mechanical Engineering | Research Officer – Precision Agriculture, Green AI-NASTP
Their expertise, practical insights and guidance helped us understand how modern agriculture is moving beyond conventional farming toward technology-driven, data-informed and automated production systems.
We also appreciate YFDP Pakistan for creating this learning opportunity and bringing together young people interested in the future of agriculture.
For us, this workshop was more than three sessions—it was an introduction to a new way of thinking about agriculture.
From Foundations → Hydroponics → Smart Farming → Automation → Agribusiness.
The workshop may have ended, but our learning journey has just begun.
