🌾 Back from Novi Sad with new knowledge and new connections 🌾 From 15 to 18 September, I took part in the TALLHEDA Summer School 2026 at the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Agriculture (Poljoprivredni fakultet Univerzitet u Novom Sadu, UNSFA) in #Serbia. 📚 Day 1 | Lectures at UNSFA Talks by Serbian professors and researchers on climate change and crop seasonality, drones and autopilot navigation, satellite and AI tools for soil assessment, variable rate fertilization and computer vision in agriculture, offering a broad overview of the technologies shaping digital agriculture today. 🌱 Day 2 | Terra Consulting A tour of the facilities and presentations on digital agriculture in practice, followed by a drone demonstration over the orchard. The day closed with a session by Future Systems Hub on exploitation, business modelling and IP, which showed how research results can move beyond the project and into real use. 🔬 Day 3 | Research visits The BioSense Institute, the experimental station in Sremski Karlovci and the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Research and Development of Serbia, where we saw how research, field experiments and AI come together in agriculture. 🚜 Day 4 | LoginEKO A lecture by LoginEKO on how technology is applied in large-scale agricultural production, from data collection to decisions in the field. 💡 Overall, the week connected theory with practice and gave me new ideas for my own work, along with valuable contacts for future collaboration 🤝 Many thanks to the #Informatics_Laboratory of the Agricultural University of Athens AUA OFC for making my participation possible, and to our hosts at UNSFA for a welcoming week 🙏 #TALLHEDA #HorizonEurope #DigitalAgriculture #PrecisionAgriculture #AgriTech

⚡🌱 Installation électrique d’une serre agricole autorégulée : de la conception à la réalisation Récemment, nous avons eu l’opportunité de travailler sur l’installation électrique d’une serre agricole autorégulée, avec pour objectif de mettre en place une infrastructure capable d’accompagner l’automatisation et le contrôle des différents paramètres nécessaires au bon développement des cultures. Ce projet nous a permis de mettre en pratique plusieurs notions d’électricité, d’électrotechnique, d’automatisation et de commande des systèmes, tout en faisant face aux réalités concrètes d’une installation sur le terrain. 🤝 Ce travail a été réalisé avec mes collègues et amis Modeste Mpaka et Caleb Kibangudi. Une belle expérience de collaboration où chacun a apporté ses compétences, ses idées et son énergie pour faire avancer le projet. Excited to share that I've successfully completed the AI for Sustainability Virtual Internship by 1M1B (1 Million for 1 Billion), in collaboration with AICTE and IBM SkillsBuild! 🎓When I started, I set out to learn and build. Here's what the journey gave me: 📅 Internship period: July 2026 – September 2026 ✅ Hands-on experience with AI/ML concepts, RAG systems, and agentic AI ✅ A clear understanding of responsible AI and how it connects to the UN SDGs ✅ The chance to design and prototype an AI-powered solution for a real-world problem As part of this journey, I'm building Kisan Mitra, an AI crop advisory assistant for small farmers in Punjab. It uses a RAG pipeline over Punjab Agricultural University crop guidance and weather-aware recommendations and supports Hindi, Punjabi, English, and Hinglish. 🏆🌍 TiE Dubai has named five regional winners in the seventh edition of its TiE Women MENA program. The selected startups represent Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the wider Middle East and an Emirati-focused track. Their founders will compete for the MENA title during GITEX Global 2026 in December. 👩‍💼🚀 Naglaa Mohammad of P-Vita, Léa Mehaweg Testa of Maison Safqa and Anuscha Iqbal of Qanooni AI won the Egypt, Saudi Arabia and UAE tracks, respectively. Rowan Alawi, CEO of Trase, secured the Rest of MENA category. Aisha Alyassi, Founder and Brand Director of SCULP WEAR, was named the Emirati track winner. 📊💡 More than 250 licensed, women-founded businesses applied to TiE Women MENA in 2026, compared with almost 200 applications in 2025. The program shortlisted 228 founders, with 46 advancing to virtual regional finals held from September 8 to 17. Applicants represented fields including AI, SaaS, AgriTech, FoodTech, HealthTech, sustainability and fashion. 🎤🤝 Each winner will receive a dedicated showcase pod at Expand North Star during GITEX Global 2026. The five founders will also continue receiving individual mentorship focused on their pitches, market strategies and investor materials. Program Co-Chairs Carlina Marani and Shameema Parveen said the cohort stood out for the quality of its pitches and the diversity of industries represented. 💰📉 The initiative comes amid a persistent funding gap for women entrepreneurs across the region. Figures provided by TiE Dubai show that female-founded startups secured $2.5 million during the first half of 2026, equivalent to only 0.14% of the region’s $1.7 billion in venture funding. Over four years, TiE Women MENA has supported more than 1,000 women-led businesses, curated over 350 pitches and awarded approximately $103,000 in equity-free prizes. 🌐✨ Globally, TiE Women has received more than 11,000 applications across 62 countries and accelerated over 500 women-led startups. No two harvests are identical — and a robot needs to handle all of them. 🏔️ Terrain is unpredictable Farm terrain is uneven, slippery, and constantly changing. A robot that works on flat ground fails on a slope. One that works in dry conditions struggles after rain. 🍃 Occlusion is constant Leaves, branches, and shadows obscure crops at every angle. A harvesting robot needs to find, identify, and reach a target it often can't fully see. ⚡ Timing is critical Harvest windows are narrow. Too early — the crop isn't ready. Too late — it's lost. Mais avant la technologie, une question est essentielle : Où implanter le projet pour garantir sa viabilité technique, économique et opérationnelle ? 1. ÉNERGIE Refroidissement, chauffage, ventilation, déshumidification, pompage, LED et automatisation peuvent représenter une part importante de l’OPEX. Exemple : 1 000 000 kWh/an à 0,08 €/kWh = 80 000 €/an À 0,16 €/kWh = 160 000 €/an Différence : 80 000 €/an. 2. EAU Disponibilité ne signifie pas qualité. Analyser : pH, EC, TDS, alcalinité, Na, Cl, Ca, Mg et bicarbonates. Selon la qualité, prévoir filtration, osmose inverse, désinfection, stockage et recyclage. 3. CLIMAT Température, humidité, rayonnement et vent influencent directement les besoins en refroidissement, chauffage, ventilation et déshumidification. Le climat extérieur reste donc un facteur économique majeur, même en CEA. 4. MARCHÉ Produire davantage ne garantit pas la rentabilité. Étudier : demande, prix, concurrence, HORECA, grossistes, distribution, chaîne du froid, distance et contrats d’achat. Exemple : une ferme de 400 t/an doit disposer d’un marché capable d’absorber cette production au prix prévu. 5. INFRASTRUCTURES Avant de choisir le terrain : électricité, eau, routes, assainissement, télécommunications, stockage, chaîne du froid, transport et extension. Un terrain moins cher peut devenir plus coûteux après les raccordements. 6. SYNERGIES Rechercher la proximité d’énergies renouvelables, industries agroalimentaires, sources de chaleur, traitement des eaux, plateformes logistiques et marchés de consommation. 7. GRILLE DE PRÉSÉLECTION Énergie 20 % | Eau 20 % | Marché 20 % | Climat 15 % | Infrastructure 10 % | Logistique 5 % | Réglementation 5 % | Extension 5 %.
