Aboriginal Business Technology Incubator (ABTI)

Connecting Innovation, Research & Community Impact
The Aboriginal Business Technology Incubator (ABTI) was pleased to be invited by “C-TARA”, IIT Bombay (Centre for Technology Alternatives for Rural Areas) to be part of an engaging knowledge-sharing session attended by esteemed faculty members, research scholars and students from B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD programmes.
The session provided an opportunity for ABTI to introduce who we are, what we do and how we support entrepreneurs, startups, SHGs and FPOs in building sustainable and scalable businesses.
ABTI shared its work across key focus areas including AgriTech & Allied Sectors, Clean Tech & Green Energy, Women’s Livelihoods & SHGs, and Entrepreneurship & Business Growth, along with our support through business mentorship, training, market linkages, networking and ecosystem connections.
The session also highlighted the valuable fieldwork undertaken by Ms.Asfiya Jabeen and Ms. Nirusha Swamy, 3rd Semester Master of Technology (M.Tech.) students from “C-TARA”, IIT Bombay, who spent two months in Sukhalu Village, Zunheboto, Nagaland.
Their field engagement included transect walks, resource mapping, focus group discussions and household surveys, through which they explored local energy use, agriculture, water access, sanitation and village infrastructure.
Directed Research:The students explored the feasibility of a solar mini-grid as an alternative energy source to reduce dependence on diesel.
The interaction brought together research, community knowledge, sustainable technology and entrepreneurship, creating a valuable space for students to understand how ideas and field insights can contribute to practical, locally relevant solutions.
ABTI is truly grateful to C-TARA, IIT Bombay, especially Prof. Anand Rao, Ms. Nirusha Swamy, and Ms. Asfiya Jabeen, for the valuable opportunity to connect, share knowledge, and learn together.
From the field to innovation meaningful change begins by listening, learning and collaborating.
