Sefapcol Social Responsibility Update: Highlights from COOU’s Agricultural Innovation Engagement – Nov 28, 2025
Sefapcol was delighted to be part of the transformational strides taking place at the Faculty of Agriculture, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), under the HKESS Transglobal Ventures Agricultural Innovation Initiative led by Dr Lady Adachukwu Dozie.
The session brought together over 100 students and multiple faculty members for an introductory lecture focused on modern, practical agriculture.
Key areas introduced included smart and climate-smart farming, agripreneurship, agro-processing, precision agriculture, and technical farm machinery development.
The HKESS team also paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, who expressed strong support for the initiative and emphasised its importance for COOU’s upcoming accreditation and long-term agricultural development.
Important needs were identified across departments, especially in Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Soil Science, highlighting the urgency for improved facilities, irrigation systems, and smart greenhouse installations.
Student engagement was high, with many showing interest in agritech, climate-smart farming, and practical traineeships. Talent identification has already begun to support future innovation cohorts.
This marks a promising beginning for accelerated agricultural excellence at COOU, and Sefapcol is proud to see such impactful steps toward strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural future.
