What if I told you that Kwara State is quietly building one of the most promising AI ecosystems in Nigeria — and I witnessed it firsthand?
I had the privilege of attending the Kwara AI Summit 2025, hosted by the Ilorin Innovation Hub and powered by IHS Towers, and it was nothing short of phenomenal.
Across two days, the summit expanded my understanding of what AI truly means — not as an enemy or an alien preparing for take-over but as a practical, human-centered tool reshaping how we live, work, create, and solve problems. It also felt like the perfect follow-up to the “AI and Emerging Tech” session by NextGenMedics earlier this month in commemoration of Digital Health Week 2025
The sessions were built around four major tracks:
• AI in Governance
• AI in AgriTech
• AI in the Creative Economy
• Core AI
Each one opened a new window into the possibilities ahead, especially for Africa.
One thing that stood out for me was the women on the panel sessions. Hearing Mrs. Zumah Yahaya (FIMC, CMC), Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, mnipr, Mrs. Hassanat Bello, and Hon. Damilola Yetunde Yusuf Adelodun speak with such Vision, facts depth and clarity was incredibly inspiring. No offence to the men, they were brilliant too and I learnt a lot from them, but the women absolutely lit up the room.
Then there was the Hackathon. Honestly, that was the most powerful moment for me. Watching young innovators present ideas they had quietly built with courage and passion… it was beautiful.
Three winners emerged, but the real magic was seeing investors show interest immediately. It wasn’t just a competition, it was an ecosystem in motion. Innovation meeting opportunity right before our eyes.
A personal highlight was finally meeting Mrs. Amanda Afolabi Ayeleso, someone I’ve admired on screen for a long time. She left an impression on me that I won’t forget anytime soon.
I’m genuinely grateful to the Kwara State Government and the Ilorin Innovation Hub for this innovative iniataiative. This summit didn’t just gather people; it showcased real, intentional steps toward building a tech-driven future. Kwara isn’t waiting for the future it’s creating it.
As for me, I’m already looking forward to the second edition. I hope to return not just as an attendee, but with a clearer sense of direction, a more energized mindset, and maybe… an idea ready to step into the light.
It was truly beautiful to witness.
