Sur 8 hectares à 624m d’altitude, de manière quasi insolite, près de 100 000 plants de tomates sont cultivés sous les éco-serres de l'exploitation “Les tomates d’Auïtou”. Basée à Rosiers-d'Egletons en Corrèze, l’une des plus grandes serres chauffées en France emploie les grands moyens pour limiter son impact environnemental. Déjà totalement autonome en eau grâce à la récupération des eaux de pluie, alimentée en électricité grâce au photovoltaïque, et labellisée Zéro Résidu de Pesticides, “Les tomates d’Auïtou” à dernièrement parfait son approvisionnement en chaleur. S’alimentant avec la chaleur perdue et inutilisée par une usine d’incinération proche, la serre devait puiser en énergie fossile lorsque l’usine s'arrêtait. Pour pallier ce problème, elle a décidé d’investir dans une centrale solaire thermique installée par la start-up bordelaise Newheat. Grâce à cette nouvelle installation, la serre peut désormais continuer à se chauffer à l’aide d’énergie renouvelable et décarbonée. À noter que 15% du projet à été financé par l’UE. We spray our food and then buy filters to clean ourselves. That is the quiet madness of the modern Indian kitchen. This week a company decided to attack it from the other end. DeHaat Honest Farms raised 35 crore rupees to sell pesticide-free produce, straight from farms it works with, to families that are tired of pretending the vegetables are fine. It is a spinoff from DeHaat, the agritech company that already sits between farmers and their inputs. Now one of its co-founders, Adarsh J Srivastava, is running this as CEO, and the pitch is almost old-fashioned. Grow it clean. Sell it clean. Charge a fair price. I know how unglamorous this is. There is no algorithm here, no 10-minute promise. Just the boring, radical idea that food should not quietly harm the people eating it. For years the clean-food conversation belonged to the rich. Organic was a label in a fancy store, a tax on the anxious wealthy. If a company can make pesticide-free normal, priced for an ordinary family, that is not a lifestyle brand. That is public health, wearing a startup's clothes. My grandmother never needed a word like pesticide-free. Her food just was. #UFAZ Student Participates in a #Bootcamp Organized in Gusar    Huseyn Balayev, a student majoring in #Computer #Science at the French-Azerbaijani University - UFAZ, participated in a bootcamp organized in the #Gusar district within the framework of the “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Precision #Agriculture” project, organized by the Agrarian Innovation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture.    Held on August 14-15, the bootcamp aimed to engage young people in the agrarian innovation and startup ecosystem, support the development of innovative solutions for the agricultural sector based on #artificial #intelligence and digital technologies, and facilitate their practical application.    As part of the program, participants representing various higher education institutions presented their #startup projects. Huseyn Balayev participated in the bootcamp with his project, “#OrchardGuard AI.” The AI-powered project initially focuses on the early identification of frost and hail risks and the assessment of potential damage in apple orchards in the Quba-Gusar region.    “OrchardGuard AI” is designed to analyze weather and farm-specific #data and provide advance alerts on frost and hail risks at the individual parcel level. In the event of damage, the project also enables #farmers to submit geotagged and timestamped photographs, which can then be analyzed using computer #vision technologies.    The system analyzes visible damage to fruit and trees and generates a preliminary structured report. the problem with building in the agritech space, especially b2c is the lack of adequate and efficient infrastructure we have in nigeria. there’s the illiteracy/technological awareness gap we have with our local farmers, and thus, sustainability becomes risky and costly.
