Innovation is attracting unprecedented capital - but are farmers capturing the value? Are we solving the industry's biggest challenges, or simply shifting efficiency and value further up the supply chain? Next month, at World Agri-Tech London, Aidan Connolly, President at AgriTech Capital, will moderate a candid conversation with GIGA Futures, International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), FCC / FAC, and NFU (National Farmers' Union). Drawing on perspectives from across the value chain, they will explore: 💡 Who really benefits from agri-tech investment? 🚜 Why does adoption still lag behind innovation? 💸 Are farmers getting the financing they need to invest and transition? ⚖️ Is regulation enabling innovation or preserving the status quo? 🌾 What happens to the future of family farming? Don't miss this reality check on where agricultural innovation is really taking us. 📍 Book your ticket today → https://lnkd.in/ehweHFvh Find out more about the programme and speakers, download the summit brochure → https://lnkd.in/emZKX_PZ

#Technology is no longer the support function. It is becoming the infrastructure of commerce. Across Africa, the next generation of financial technology will not be defined by another standalone app. It will be defined by how intelligently technology connects the real economy. At #Fiinovatetechnologies we believe technology should make economic activity more visible, connected and financeable. That means building infrastructure that can connect: Business activity → Transactions → Data → Risk intelligence → Finance → Payments → Insurance → Growth For SMEs and agricultural value chains, this matters. A farmer should not only be a name on a database. An SME should not only be assessed using historical financial statements. A transaction should not disappear once payment is made. Technology can create a continuous digital trail from onboarding and KYC, to orders, production, payments, collections and repeat transactions. And when that data is structured intelligently, something powerful happens: Previously invisible businesses begin building digital economic identities. That can help financial institutions understand risk better, businesses demonstrate their performance, insurers design more relevant products, and ecosystem partners make better decisions. This is where we see the future of #fintech moving: Not simply digitising lending, but building the digital infrastructure that makes embedded finance, AI-driven risk assessment and data-led financial inclusion possible. Africa does not lack economic activity. The opportunity is to make more of that activity visible, trusted and investable. That is the technology infrastructure we are excited about building at Fiinovate Technologies. #Fiinovate #FinTech #Technology #ArtificialIntelligence #EmbeddedFinance #DigitalTransformation #FinancialInclusion #SMEs #AgriTech #AfricaInnovation #FutureOfFinance Alexander Zanders FSD Africa AccelerateAfrica.org

Smart Grain Monitor: An ML-Driven IoT System Github Link : https://lnkd.in/g_i7cgPn Developed a low-cost IoT-based grain monitoring system that combines multi-point environmental sensing with machine learning to identify early signs of grain spoilage. The system uses an ESP8266, dual DHT11 sensors, and an MQ135 gas sensor to continuously monitor storage conditions. Sensor readings are transformed into features such as temperature gradients, gas trends, and confidence scores, then processed through a Random Forest classification pipeline to categorize spoilage risk from Low to Critical. Real-time monitoring and alerts are delivered through a Blynk dashboard, while adaptive thresholds help the system respond to changing storage conditions. The core idea is simple: move from detecting spoilage after it happens to identifying the conditions that lead to it. This project brought together Embedded Systems, IoT, Machine Learning, and Data Analysis to explore a practical solution for reducing post-harvest grain losses in resource-constrained environments. #IoT #MachineLearning #EmbeddedSystems #AgricultureTechnology #AgriTech #SmartAgriculture #ESP8266 #Python #RandomForest #Blynk #AI #CSE #EngineeringProject

I’ll just leave this here… Google is looking to pay $10 million for Spirit Airlines' internal business data for product development and AI training. As you read that, think about farms, their data, and the value being created from it. The conversation can no longer just be about helping farmers aggregate their data and extract value from it while the farm is operating. We also need to ask: what happens to that data afterwards? If a farm closes, changes ownership, or stops operating, who retains the value of years of production, behavioral, environmental, health, and management data? Should a larger technology company simply be able to capitalize on that accumulated knowledge? These are questions agriculture needs to address now, not after the value has already moved elsewhere. As I recently mentioned this to members of USDA and Congress, we need to build the next generation of [US] AgriTech companies around an ethical approach to farmers, animals, the environment, and the data they generate. That means creating a different kind of value, not simply replicating the model Silicon Valley has used elsewhere. And that is an opportunity we have right here in Pennsylvania. Two things worth remembering: 1. Data has tangible value. Someone may literally be willing to pay for it. 2. Data has insight value. For the companies that aggregate enough of it, the knowledge derived from that data can ultimately be worth far more than the individual dataset itself. Farm data is an asset. The question is who gets to capture its value.
