On enchaîne.

#Maspiruline #SpirulineSuisse #SavoirFaireLocal #EntrepreneuriatLocal #VisiteEnFamille

Grow More. Save More. Emit Less. What if rice cultivation could become more profitable for farmers while significantly reducing its environmental footprint? The integration of Alternate Wetting & Drying (AWD) with Urea Deep Placement (UDP) is proving that sustainability and productivity can go hand in hand. By combining precision water management with targeted nitrogen application, AWD + UDP helps farmers produce more with fewer resources—creating measurable economic, environmental, and social impact. Here's what this integrated approach delivers: ✅ Better Income: +₹1,01,560/ha in higher farmer earnings ✅ Lower Inputs: 66% less urea & 42–46% water saved ✅ Higher Output: 16–27% boost in yield with 30% longer, uniform grains ✅ Lower Footprint: ~5.8 tCO₂/ha avoided emissions By optimizing nitrogen placement and water usage, we’re creating a winning model for farmers, governments, and the environment. This is more than an agricultural intervention—it is a scalable model for food security, water conservation, climate resilience, farmer prosperity, and sustainable rural development. As organizations increasingly invest in CSR, ESG, and carbon reduction initiatives, integrated solutions like AWD + UDP offer a practical pathway to generate measurable environmental and social impact while strengthening agricultural productivity. The future of agriculture isn't about choosing between profitability and sustainability—it's about achieving both, together. Grow More. Save More. Emit Less. #Agritech #ClimateSmartAgriculture #Sustainability #CarbonCredits #RiceCultivation #WaterConservation #FarmerFirst #CSR #ESG #ClimateAction #DistinctHorizon #ajitnigam #ayushnigam

Over the past year, much of my work in agricultural Earth observation has relied on Sentinel-1 C-band SAR and Sentinel-2 optical imagery for monitoring vegetation, soil moisture, and crop conditions. As I began studying the NASA–ISRO NISAR mission, one aspect stood out: the introduction of L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) alongside S-band observations. Why does that matter? Radar wavelength determines how microwave energy interacts with vegetation. Sentinel-1's C-band (~5.6 cm) primarily interacts with the upper canopy, making it an excellent operational mission for all-weather crop monitoring, flood mapping, and soil moisture retrieval. NISAR's L-band (~24 cm) penetrates deeper into vegetation before scattering from larger structural components such as branches and trunks. That additional structural information could significantly improve applications involving: • Above-ground biomass estimation • Orchard and perennial crop monitoring • Carbon accounting • Soil moisture retrieval beneath vegetation canopies Rather than replacing Sentinel-1, I see NISAR as an important addition to the Earth observation ecosystem. For precision agriculture, the future is unlikely to depend on a single satellite mission. It will depend on integrating complementary datasets: • Sentinel-2 for spectral information • Sentinel-1 for operational C-band SAR • NISAR for L-band vegetation structure • Weather observations • Ground truth measurements • AI-driven analytics As engineers building Earth observation platforms, our challenge is no longer acquiring satellite imagery. It is designing systems capable of transforming heterogeneous datasets into scientifically robust, actionable agricultural intelligence. I'm particularly interested in exploring how L-band SAR can contribute to biomass estimation in perennial crops such as Hass avocado, where structural information plays a critical role. NISAR represents more than a new satellite mission—it introduces new possibilities for understanding agricultural systems from space. #EarthObservation #RemoteSensing #NISAR #SyntheticApertureRadar #SAR #Sentinel1 #PrecisionAgriculture #AgriTech #Biomass #GIS #Geospatial #ClimateTech
