🚨 Agritech Reality Check: Stop Blaming Farmers 🚨 Another agritech startup shuts down. Shocked? Don’t be. Here’s the truth most founders ignore: Technocrats think they understand agriculture. They don’t. Most have never even touched a plow. Farmers are still fighting for MSP and basic procurement. Even the Government — with thousands of officers on the ground — can’t fix everything. But let’s be clear: the agriculture department staff on the field is not stupid. They know what farmers need. Apps don’t. Infrastructure gaps aren’t a feature you can code away. Tiny landholdings, poor logistics, weak markets — AI can’t fix centuries-old problems. Paid digital advisory? Many farmers can’t even recharge their phones. They want stable prices, not notifications. Downloads ≠ impact. 10 lakh installs in a 100 crore farmer population? Just money flowing to Google and Meta. Reality: Agriculture is not a SaaS market. It’s built on trust, tradition, and razor-thin margins. Any model built in an AC cabin, disconnected from the soil, is destined to collapse. Lesson: Stop selling dreams to investors. Start understanding farmers. --- #Agritech #FarmersFirst #IndianAgriculture #StartupReality #RuralEconomy #MSP #RealImpact

Last month in Brisbane, at the Australia–Fiji and Fiji–Australia Joint Business Councils Annual Meeting, I was honored to present on the theme: ✅ “Unlocking Private Sector Potential – From ADB’s Global Vision to Fiji’s Frontier.” Fiji stands at the forefront of private sector transformation in the Pacific, combining resilience with opportunity. ADB has supported Fiji since 1970, committing over $1.2 billion to sovereign projects and technical assistance. Recent investments include climate-resilient transport infrastructure, urban water systems, and renewable energy initiatives—all aligned with Fiji’s National Development Plan and ADB’s Country Partnership Strategy. 🟢 Catalyzing Private Investment and Innovation Through various programs, ADB is driving reforms and unlocking private capital for high-impact sectors. In Fiji, this means expanding SME finance, supporting women-owned businesses, and enabling early-stage companies in fintech, agritech, and climate-smart solutions. Legal and institutional reforms—such as secured transactions and SOE restructuring—are creating an enabling environment for inclusive growth. 🟢 A Call to Action for Partnerships Fiji’s digital transformation and climate adaptation efforts present unique opportunities for collaboration. ADB is open for business—partnering with governments, investors, and entrepreneurs to scale up infrastructure delivery and foster sustainable private sector development. Together, we can build a competitive, resilient economy that benefits Fiji, and the Pacific region. #Fiji #PacificDevelopment #PrivateSector #ClimateResilience #DigitalTransformation #InclusiveGrowth #SMEFinance #ADB #SustainableDevelopment #InfrastructureInvestment

Farewell to a Forecasting Icon 📖 After 206 years, the Farmers’ Almanac is closing its cover for good. For generations, it helped farmers make sense of the seasons with long-range predictions and old-school wisdom. But as the New York Times reported, the 2026 edition will be its last. We‘ll miss the tradition with its mix of folklore and science. But here‘s the reality: with 2026 shaping up to be one of the toughest years in modern agriculture—low commodity prices, high input costs, tanking equipment values, and razor-thin margins—farmers need more than folklore. They need precision. So what's actually working for farmers right now? For starters, Tilley‘s Yield Forecasting: an AI model that learns from real weather data to deliver pinpoint yield forecasts at the county level for corn and soybeans. The model predicts irrigated and non-irrigated yields separately for every county, giving you a much more accurate view of how production is developing across the country. These county forecasts roll up into clear state and national production estimates—the kind of analysis that helps you make smarter marketing and planting decisions when every acre counts. It‘s not about replacing your intuition or in-the-field experience. Just like the Almanac was never a guarantee, Tilley‘s Profit Platform simply gives you the clearest, most complete picture possible so you can make the best decision for your operation. Because in today‘s agricultural economy, reliable data-informed analysis is no longer a luxury. It can mean survival. 📌 Note: Not to be confused, the Old Farmer’s Almanac is still going strong!

𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗜𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 i𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 One thing I have been paying attention to lately is how many Africans in the diaspora actually want to invest back home but don’t know where to start. Most people abroad have the money, the exposure, and the interest. What they don’t have is 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙩, 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮, 𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙧 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙. With the rise of indoor farming, greenhouses, hydroponics, and digital tools that let you monitor farms from your phone, investing in agriculture is no longer guesswork and that is where agriculture is quietly becoming one of the most promising bridges.. You can literally be in North America , Europe, or anywhere else and see your farm’s progress in real time. This also opens up opportunities for industry players in these diaspora regions who are looking for locations to build new farms without expensive heating, power costs and a huge available market. This is a big shift. Diaspora investment used to be limited to family projects or sending money home. Now it’s evolving into structured agritech systems backed by data, sensors, and proper management. And when people abroad invest, they don’t just bring money; they bring standards, accountability, and international market expectations. That combination is powerful. I genuinely believe diaspora-led agritech will play a major role in modernizing Africa’s food systems. From improving yields to introducing new crops and building export pipelines, the impact over the next decade will be massive. #Agritech #Innovation #Technology #SmartFarming #DigitalFarming #FutureOfFood #IndoorFarming #Sustainability #FoodSecurity #GreenTech #AgInnovation
