Recent Financial Express report on 24 November 2025—“Agritech funding plunges sharply”—show how far the agritech sector remains from delivering real, ground-level value. Investor confidence is weakening not because agriculture is unattractive, but because too many startups still build “tech for the sake of tech.” What Indian agriculture needs today are solutions built on first principles: simple, adaptable, farmer-centric and backed by strong unit economics. Startups that focus on real problems, valid metrics, and scalable, sustainable models will not just survive—they will lead the next transformation. Until then, the sector will continue to lose potential, capital, and years of effort to unintended outcomes. A similar pattern exists with FPO investments, where crores of public money have flowed over the last decade with limited measurable transformation on the ground. India’s biostimulant sector has entered its toughest compliance era — and the market is now heading toward clear winners and clear exits. The government’s revised norms under the amended Fertiliser Control Order have transformed the industry from claims-based to evidence-backed. Only products that can prove field efficacy, meet contaminant limits, and show transparent, scientifically validated label claims will survive. And for the first time, enforcement is uncompromising.
