Agricultural monitoring over large areas relies heavily on field inspections and fragmented datasets.   That makes it difficult to get timely insights into crop health, moisture conditions, drought and disaster impacts. It also delays planning, resource allocation and post-disaster response.   The Remote Sensing Analytics Suite in Dexian India's Agri IQ computes 20+ remote sensing indices including NDVI, EVI, SAVI, NDMI, NDWI, NDRE, BSI and MSI - covering vegetation vigour, moisture stress, soil condition and water presence.   It brings together Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and other satellite datasets. AI models then analyse imagery taken over time to monitor crop growth stages, assess crop health and evaluate damage. Les 13 et 14 octobre, le PPR Cultiver et Protéger Autrement réunissait sa communauté scientifique et ses partenaires, aux côtés de l'Acta les instituts techniques agricoles et de Carnot Plant2Pro, pour son événement scientifique final : « De la rupture scientifique à l'innovation en protection des cultures ». 🔬 𝐄𝐭 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐮 ! Premier Programme prioritaire de recherche (PPR) à arriver à son terme, Cultiver et Protéger Autrement a aussi ouvert la voie aux PEPR. Un programme pionnier, qui a dû inventer ses méthodes, expérimenter, parfois essuyer les plâtres, et qui laisse aujourd'hui bien plus que des résultats scientifiques. Car ces deux journées ont donné à voir toute la fécondité de la recherche. Des avancées parfois insoupçonnées au lancement des projets, des pistes nouvelles, des connaissances qui n'existaient tout simplement pas il y a quelques années. Pour certains sujets, tout restait à découvrir. Et les présentations, d'une remarquable qualité, ont su rendre compte de cette richesse avec clarté, enthousiasme et une vraie volonté de partage. 🌱 𝗨𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲, 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝘀 𝗹'𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗲 𝘀'𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗲̂𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀 𝗹𝗮̀. This week, out of more than 1,400+ companies nominated, Norrsken named Genomines as a Norrsken100 company (again)! The repeat recognition speaks to the consistent hard work our team puts in day-in and day-out to make Genomines a success. It's worth noting that - while Genomines has evolved and grown quite a bit since the previous nomination - the problem we're working on remains just as, if not more, pressing. The clean energy transition runs on metals like nickel, and supply is heavily concentrated and under pressure. Furthermore, an AI-dependent world with data centers spread over every continent needs many, many more metals. Steel and semiconductors dont grow on trees - but some of the metals that go into them can! (see www.genomines.com for more on growing metal with plants…) So our mission to provide the world with cheaper, cleaner metals remains as important today as it did 3 years ago. And seeing our logo on the Nasdaq Tower in Times Square was a great moment to celebrate the work we've done and to reinvigorate all of us. Aerobotics 🇿🇦 Can AI tell a farmer which individual trees on a farm need attention? That's the kind of problem South Africa's Aerobotics has been working on. Founded in Cape Town in 2014 by James Paterson and Benji Meltzer, Aerobotics combines artificial intelligence, aerial imagery and computer vision to help farmers understand what's happening across their crops. Its technology can analyse orchards and provide farmers with information that helps them make decisions around crop health, yields and farm management. And the business has attracted significant investment. Aerobotics announced a $17 million Series B led by Naspers Limited , with participation from Platform Capital Investment Partners , FMO Investment Management and Cathay AfricInvest Innovation. Agriculture is one of the areas where AI could have an enormous practical impact across Africa.
