Nvidia just bought Hugging Face for $12.9 billion. Here's why smallholder farmers should care. The AI quietly transforming African agriculture, crop disease detection from a phone photo, yield prediction from satellite imagery, credit scoring for farmers with no bank statements, mostly runs on open-source models. Models a small team can download, fine-tune on local crops and local data, and deploy without a Silicon Valley budget. Hugging Face was the front door to all of that. Now the world's biggest chipmaker owns it. Maybe nothing changes. Nvidia profits when more people build. But agriculture in emerging markets has learned this lesson before with seeds and fertilizer: when the inputs get consolidated, the smallest players pay the price. For those of us building AI for smallholder finance, the takeaway is clear: Fine-tune and own your models. A crop-yield model trained on Ethiopian teff or Kenyan maize is an asset no acquisition can take from you. The real moat was never the base model, it's the local data and the trust of the farmers behind it. The next decade of agricultural AI in Africa shouldn't depend on decisions made in a boardroom in Santa Clara. #AgriTech #AI #FinancialInclusion #Smallholders #Africa #AgriFinance

Many plant breeders are losing tens of thousands every season to IP infringement. The problem? They can't see it happening. Here's what we've learned after 10+ years in the industry: breeders create innovation. They register it. Then they watch their margins shrink - not only from adverse market conditions, but also from unseen infringement they can't afford to chase. The math is stark: a single infringer can cost you €50K+ per season. Multiply that across territories, varieties, and years - the losses compound fast. Why does this keep happening? 1.     Existing tools aren't fit for purpose 2.     Monitoring is scattered across departments and jurisdictions 3.     Risk is invisible until damage is done 4.     Enforcement budgets are slim So infringement continues, breeders leave money on the table and innovation gets undervalued. That changes today. We're introducing 𝗔𝗿𝗴𝘂𝘀 - a practical IP risk management platform built by Greenstone from within the industry, for the industry. After meeting with dozens of industry leaders, we discovered only a fraction monitor their IP effectively. For most breeders, that capability is too expensive to build, too complex to sustain, and impossible to scale alone. Argus closes that gap. Here's what you can achieve with Argus: → Find hidden threats before they cost you: See which territories and third parties pose the highest risk-before infringement compounds → Stop infringement fast: Deploy enforcement teams to high-risk areas with one click - no more coordinating across vendors → Cut monitoring costs up to 50%: Share surveillance cost with others in common risk zones instead of paying full price alone → Make decisions in minutes, not weeks: All your IP data, applications, contracts, and enforcement activities in one view Argus is in early rollout, supported by a government innovation grant. We're committed to making Argus accessible to IP holders small and large - because we know breeders wait years for returns while protection costs start from day one. That's why we're offering a free tier for up to 3 varieties. Start with your star innovations, scale as you grow. Ready to see where you're exposed? → DM me for your free personalized risk assessment → In Berlin? Meet us at FRUIT LOGISTICA (Feb 4-6) for a live demo Lastly, we'd like to thank the breeders, government IP registries, rights holders, and advisors who shared feedback over the last year and helped shape what Argus is becoming. A special thanks to our beta users - you're helping create the solution the industry can rely on. Your innovation matters. Your IP matters. Let's make sure you're paid for it. #PlantBreeding #AgriTech #PlantIP #IPProtection #PlantVarietyRights #FruitLogistica

It is therefore natural to think of technologies applied to arable land, made of soil🟤 But there are nations that have few cultivable land and are almost totally dependent on imports to meet their needs❌ Some of these nations have a program to reach domestic production of 30% of the country’s food demand by 2030, in order to become more resilient🗣️ We are talking about: Singapore❗ A country smaller than the city of Rome that, through hydroponics, vertical farming, sensor technology, waste recycling, and energy efficiency, aims to become “a city of green possibilities”🔝 But the obstacles are many and the government shifted their goals to 2035🐞 Our multisensor system can be applied both in open fields and in greenhouses such as those used in Singapore😎 #Agritech #Innovation #Sustainability #SmartFarming #IoT #NatureTech #Research #Science #Singapore #Verticalfarming #Hydroponics Source: https://lnkd.in/gzfdXQh Source: https://lnkd.in/evtVF6UM

🔗 #Aquaponie #Truite #Hydroponie #Agritech #UrbanFarming #InnovationAgricole #Sustainability
