The global agri-food landscape is rapidly transitioning toward a high-tech, data-driven era, where efficiency, resilience, and sustainability are enabled by smart systems, AI, and integrated digital solutions.
At Gulfood 2026, I had the opportunity to participate in the Future Food 500 panel.
“A Global Futuristic View: Smart Agri-Food Systems”, which explored how:
1- Hydroponic and controlled-environment agriculture are reshaping productivity and resource efficiency
2- AI and digital tools are moving from pilots to core enablers of food production and supply-chain optimization
3- Food security strategies must be execution-driven, scalable, and investment-ready
4- Capital and innovation are converging around sustainable agri-food technologies
The conversation brought together a diverse set of global perspectives, making the discussion both grounded and forward-looking:
- Ben Leyka, CEO, African Agri Council NPC
- Hassan Halawy, CEO, Elite Agritech
- athar khokhar, Director General, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan
- Mohamed Shaji, Aquaculture Expert & Former Joint Director, MPEDA
- Baranidharan Pacha, CEO, Transgreen Agro & Logix
Smart agri-food systems are no longer emerging, they are becoming essential infrastructure for future food security and competitiveness.
Appreciation to Future Food 500 and Gulfood - The World's Biggest F&B Event for convening meaningful conversations that connect technology, policy, and investment, and to Frost & Sullivan Middle East for its continued support through data-driven market intelligence and strategic insights translating innovation into scalable, investment-ready agri-food solutions.
