🚀 Smart India Hackathon 2025 | Grand Finale Achievement
🌾 Project: Fasal Rakshak | PS ID: SIH25268
I’m proud to share that our team CodeMatrix was selected as Grand Finale Participants at Smart India Hackathon 2025, where we built Fasal Rakshak, an AI-driven solution for the Early Detection of Wheat Diseases.
🌱 Problem We Solved
Wheat diseases such as rust and blight are usually detected at advanced stages, leading to major yield losses. Farmers often lack early warnings and timely expert guidance. Our goal was to build a practical, scalable, and farmer-friendly system to detect diseases early and enable preventive action.
💡 About Fasal Rakshak
Fasal Rakshak is a Farmer-First AI-powered platform that integrates: • Crop image-based disease detection
• Satellite & drone-assisted crop monitoring
• Weather-based risk analysis
• Disease heatmaps & geo-tagging
• Crop advisories, government schemes & Agri-Cart access
• AI chatbot support for farmers
🧠 Technical Overview
The system combines AI/ML and remote sensing to monitor crop health.
We used vegetation indices such as NDVI, NDRI, NDRE, etc., to analyze crop vigor and stress. Satellite-based vegetative analysis was performed using Google Earth Engine, integrated with weather data to forecast disease risk zones.
🛠 Tech Stack
• Frontend: React.js (deployed on Netlify)
• Backend: Next.js (API routes & server logic deployed on Render)
• Database: MongoDB
• Image Storage: Cloudinary
• AI/ML: Python, CNN-based models, image processing libraries
• Remote Sensing: Google Earth Engine, NDVI/NDRE/NDRI
• APIs & Integration: Weather data, geo-location services
👨💻 My Contribution – Saurav Kumar
I worked mainly on backend development using Next.js, where I designed APIs and integrated core modules such as crop scan, disease heatmaps, geo-tagged data, and alert workflows. I handled MongoDB database design, Cloudinary image integration, real-time data pipelines, backend deployment on Render, and ensured smooth frontend–backend communication and system scalability.

Special thanks to our mentor Susham Biswas and our Teammates ( Team CODE MATRIX)
Although we didn’t win, reaching the SIH Grand Finale was a major learning milestone in real-world problem solving, backend system design, AI integration, and teamwork.
🌍 Fasal Rakshak is not the end — it’s the beginning of scalable and impactful AgriTech solutions.
