Day 4 of the #VoiceForBharat Challenge: Giving Khetify a Memory! 🧠🌾 Until today, our agricultural voice assistant Khetify would forget farmers the moment they hung up. But farming is an ongoing journey, and context is everything! For Day 4, I gave Khetify a persistent memory using SQLite and function calling. Here is what I implemented: ✅ Persistent Database: SQLite backend to store caller profiles and facts. ✅ Tool Calling: Khetify autonomously uses tools to save facts (save_farmer_fact) and retrieve profiles (get_farmer_memory). ✅ Personalized Greetings: When a returning farmer calls, Khetify greets them by name and recalls their specific crop and location! ✅ Consent First: Khetify is programmed to always ask for permission before saving any personal farm data. ✅ Advanced RAG: Grounded answers using a RAG knowledge base. ✅ Dynamic Language Switching: Seamlessly toggles between English and Hindi based on the farmer's spoken language. Day 4/10 — Teaching Krishi-Vani to remember. 🌱 Yesterday, Krishi-Vani could talk. Today, I taught it to remember. For the demo, I introduced myself as Ria, a farmer from Latur, growing cotton on 6 acres with drip irrigation. I shared these details, gave permission to remember them, and ended the call. When I started a new conversation and simply said “Namaste”, Krishi-Vani recognized me and brought back the details from our previous conversation. 🌾 I also tested the other side of memory — when I said “No, don't save that,” it respected my decision. Behind the scenes, I added SQLite memory + function tools + consent-based saving, so the agent can look up and update farmer information across conversations. It's a small feature, but it makes the experience feel much less like talking to a bot and much more like talking to an assistant. There is a version of due diligence you can do from a desk. This isn't it. In July I went to Prince George, British Columbia, to spend a day at Licella's hydrothermal liquefaction plant — where forestry residue becomes bio-oil. It is the same process we are looking to deploy in India via Agri-Biofuels License Co Ltd, under a proposed licensing agreement with Licella. What a datasheet cannot give you is scale. A residue pile the size of a building. Handling plant built to match it. Waste going in at one end and bio-oil coming out at the other, on a site you can walk the length of in an afternoon. People ask how much has to change to run Indian feedstock instead of Canadian forestry residue. Less than they expect. The moisture content is remarkably similar. It is a process change, not an engineering one, and it is what lets the same plant design repeat across states. I have read the papers. I wanted to stand in it before asking anyone else to believe in it. Five state governments in India now have MoUs or MoAs in place with us. One message changed Dailygurus completely Back in 2024, we had implemented Blockchain traceability in the fruits & vegetables supply chain. We were one of the very few companies to have done it. Every product would have a QR code powered by Blockchain, which could show the complete farm-to-fork journey. We took almost 5 years to reach that level. But then came the bigger challenge. I was struggling to take this product to the right people. I started trying to connect with procurement heads and leadership teams of different companies. Somehow, I got a response from one of the leadership team members at Blinkit. That one response changed a lot for us. Within a few days, our products were listed on Blinkit with Blockchain traceability for fruits & vegetables. And boom. 24 months from there, we've come a decent distance. From operating out of a small 100 sq.ft space, to collection centres, warehouses and a network of 2,000+ farmers. Sometimes people only see what happens after that one breakthrough. For us, it might look like an overnight success. It just took us 5 whole years to get there. And probably, one message at the right time.
