Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the #AI4Agri Summit 2026 held on 22–23 February at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai, a Global Conference on AI in Agriculture and Investor Summit, affiliated with the AI Impact Summit India.
🌱This wasn’t just a conference, it was a roadmap for how Maharashtra and India will lead the next agricultural revolution.
🌱The summit brought together policymakers, global institutions, researchers, startups, investors, and academia to outline a clear roadmap for how AI will transform agriculture in Maharashtra and across India.
🌱The inaugural and policy sessions featured distinguished leaders including Hon. Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis ji, Deputy CM Smt. Sunetra Pawar ji, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh ji, and Shri Vikas Chandra Rastogi ji, among other dignitaries.
☘️ Key themes of the Summit that stood out:
• Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and Digital Public Goods (DPGs) for agriculture
• AI Agricultural Research Network (AIARN) and institutional financing architecture
• Remote sensing and geospatial intelligence for scalable agricultural transformation
• Risk management and transparency mechanisms through AI
• Investment models accelerating Agri-AI startups and FPO-led adoption
🌱 Through my internship, I got the opportunity to attend the summit and gain exposure to ongoing work under the World Bank-funded PoCRA initiative, where geospatial mapping, farm bund boundary imaging, and climate-resilient analytics are being integrated with AI for better predictions, and sustainable farm planning.
☘️ Exploring the innovation stalls was equally insightful. Startups from IITs, COEP, and other leading institutions showcased:
• Drone-based precision spraying and surveillance systems
• Satellite-driven predictive agriculture models
• AI-enabled seed banks and storage systems
• Enhanced computer vision pipelines for disease detection
• Distinct drone cycles optimized separately for surveillance and spraying
🌱 A particularly interesting highlight was the advancement in shadow compensation for improved drone imagery, something I had also encountered during my agro-drone capstone work. Seeing it implemented at scale reinforced how rapidly research concepts are transitioning into deployable solutions.
🌱 The summit also emphasized inclusion, not only technology adoption, but structural inclusion of women as decision-makers, entrepreneurs, and leaders in the Agri-AI ecosystem.
☘️ Agriculture in India is no longer just a primary sector, it is becoming data-driven, climate-intelligent, investment-backed. Maharashtra is positioning itself as a frontrunner in this transformation.
Grateful to MIT World Peace University, my faculty mentor savitri jadhav ma'am, and Harkanwal Jot S. Sir for the guidance and exposure that made this experience possible.
