Nvidia just bought Hugging Face for $12.9 billion. Here's why smallholder farmers should care. The AI quietly transforming African agriculture, crop disease detection from a phone photo, yield prediction from satellite imagery, credit scoring for farmers with no bank statements, mostly runs on open-source models. Models a small team can download, fine-tune on local crops and local data, and deploy without a Silicon Valley budget. Hugging Face was the front door to all of that. Now the world's biggest chipmaker owns it. Maybe nothing changes. Nvidia profits when more people build. But agriculture in emerging markets has learned this lesson before with seeds and fertilizer: when the inputs get consolidated, the smallest players pay the price. For those of us building AI for smallholder finance, the takeaway is clear: Fine-tune and own your models. A crop-yield model trained on Ethiopian teff or Kenyan maize is an asset no acquisition can take from you. The real moat was never the base model, it's the local data and the trust of the farmers behind it. The next decade of agricultural AI in Africa shouldn't depend on decisions made in a boardroom in Santa Clara. #AgriTech #AI #FinancialInclusion #Smallholders #Africa #AgriFinance

#agriTech #agroIndustrie #innovation #maroc #transformationdigitale

Land to Market, Lead to Market: Field Inspection of Strawberry Cultivation. I spent the day on-site today, inspecting the progress of our latest Strawberry Cultivation Project, and the results are incredibly rewarding. Growing strawberries is as much a science as it is an art. Being a high-value but sensitive crop, it demands precision, constant monitoring, and a proactive approach to crop management. Seeing the transition from initial saplings to a lush, fruit-bearing field is a testament to the hard work put in by the entire team. Key Observations from the Inspection: Precision Irrigation: Our drip irrigation systems are maintaining perfect moisture levels, crucial for fruit size and sugar content. Mulching Effectiveness: The plastic mulch has significantly reduced weed pressure and kept the berries clean and disease-free. Fruit Quality: The coloring and firmness of the berries are meeting premium market standards. Modern horticulture isn't just about farming; it’s about resource optimization. we are not just growing fruit; we are building a sustainable and profitable agricultural model. Agriculture is evolving, and it's exciting to be at the forefront of this transformation. #Agriculture #Horticulture #StrawberryFarming #AgriTech #SustainableFarming #SupplyChain #FarmManagement

#Agritech #OpenFutureProjects

The Avengers assembled tonight at Mandala Club. Investors, curious minds, sustainability believers, and wonderful friends who came to listen, ask questions and share the evening with us. It was a special night because we were telling the story behind OH MY STRAWBERRY. How two people from the world of brand and marketing somehow found themselves building a strawberry farm in Singapore. That’s us! Alon Weinstock and Uma Rudd Chia The idea may sound unusual, but the opportunity is very real. Singapore imports more than 90 percent of its food, and with proven indoor growing technology already producing beautiful pesticide free strawberries for the past three years overseas, we’re now bringing that system here. So yes, part of the evening was also about looking for partners and investors who believe, like we do, that food should not be climate dependent. A big thank you to Mandala Club for hosting such a beautiful evening. Thanks for the suggestion Patrick Grove and thanks for the planning Marc Braydon and Ashish Chauhan And to Jeremy Muller for the fantastic wines from Peccavi Estate in Margaret River. The #NoRegrets range was superb. Elegant, balanced wines with the depth Margaret River is known for. Needless to say the bottles disappeared rather quickly. The Mandala chefs then sealed the evening with a glorious strawberry Eton Mess. Light, indulgent and gone in minutes. My only regret is that because of the wars we could not get our strawberries in from the middle east. Most of all, thank you to everyone who came with curiosity and open minds. The conversations were thoughtful, the questions sharp, and the room full of possibility. We’re building something exciting with Oh My Strawberry, and nights like this remind me how powerful a room full of good people and good ideas can be. If you interested in joining us as a strategic Investor or partner in this journey, ping me. UK-based startup Bindbridge has secured $3.8 million to pioneer "molecular glues" that program weeds and pests to self-destruct by hijacking their internal #waste disposal systems. Using its #AI computational platform, BRIDGE, the company designs small molecules that trigger the degradation of essential proteins, offering a potent alternative to traditional herbicides facing rising resistance. Unlike bulkier #biological solutions, these chemically synthesized molecules are designed for superior field stability, cell permeability, and cost-effective manufacturing. Beyond replacing glyphosate, Bindbridge aims to "drug the undruggable" by targeting proteins previously immune to inhibition, potentially unlocking new traits like #drought_tolerance and nutrient efficiency. This funding will accelerate lab testing and facilitate co-development #partnerships with global #agricultural chemical giants. By merging pharmaceutical-grade #deeptech with practical agronomic constraints, Bindbridge is positioning itself to lead the next generation of rational, high-precision crop protection. 🗨️ WhatsApp: https://lnkd.in/gnGs5ZNH ✉️ Newsletter: https://lnkd.in/gRtkPb-k Follow For More Updates: AgriTech Intelligence by GrowinAgri Connect with us at 📩 pr@growinagri.com to explore editorial & advertising opportunities that reach the right audience worldwide.

Robotic AI isn’t replacing workers—it's replacing vacancies. In 2026, the automation story has flipped: robots aren’t stealing jobs from eager people - they’re filling gaps left by permanent labor shortages that threaten entire industries. Construction, agriculture, livestock, and building maintenance face structural voids driven by two unstoppable forces: - Geopolitical shifts have shrunk traditional labor pools. In the US, tighter immigration policies have cut inflows that once filled massive roles in construction and agriculture (where foreign-born workers historically made up 50–70% of crop labor). In Israel, war and restrictions have blocked long-standing access to neighboring labor sources, forcing huge foreign-worker imports - yet tens of thousands of spots in construction and agriculture still go unfilled. Global tensions and reduced mobility lock these changes in place. - Generational reality: Younger workers (Gen Z and younger Millennials) increasingly reject manual, outdoor, or physically demanding roles, choosing flexibility and tech over grind. Aging workforces and delayed retirements can’t close the gap. Result? Idle sites, unharvested fields, stalled projects, and businesses shrinking or closing because they can’t find people. Robotics + AI steps in as the lifeline - enabling companies to keep operating when human labor simply isn’t available. This is the massive investment opportunity today: Israeli (and global) startups are proving their systems deliver real ROI - 50%+ cost/time savings in harsh conditions. With just a few to tens of units deployed, many already lock in committed pipelines: end-users scaling to 100+ units, distributors investing in current rounds for exclusive rights, forward orders for hundreds or thousands. These are binding signals of product-market fit, technical maturity, and sustained demand—not fluffy forecasts. Valuations are still attractive (often single-digit millions at early traction), well below SaaS multiples, while tailwinds are permanent. As AI sharpens performance, these companies are set for 10x+ valuation jumps in the years ahead. I just published a full breakdown unpacking why this shift matters—and why acting now could mean explosive returns as AI scales performance. Read it here https://lnkd.in/ehha4bDa Key investor filter: Does it work in the real world? Are there real commitments showing companies will keep buying to survive? Robotic AI here is essential adaptation—not disruption. Vacancies are the bigger threat than automation fears. VCs and founders: Seeing the same shift? Name one robotics play you’ve spotted filling real gaps over hype. Let’s talk 2026 opportunity. #Robotics #AI #DeepTech #VentureCapital #LaborShortage #Agritech #ConstructionTech #Automation
