Start-upper vs Paysan Depuis quelques années, des start-uppers en col roulé ont eu l'idée de révolutionner l'agriculture en construisant des tours remplies de laitue en pleine ville. Ils se sont confrontés à 12 000 ans de techno paysanne. Spoiler, ça n'a pas vraiment marché. Bowery Farming lève 700 millions de dollars et ferme en 2024. Plenty Unlimited lève 940 millions, dépose le bilan en 2025. Le problème structurel : construire des fermes verticales coûte cher, l'énergie coûte cher, et les marges agricoles sont ridiculement faibles. La photosynthèse a besoin de soleil, pas de LED à 10 000 euros par mois. Ces boîtes ont essayé de concurrencer des exploitations agricoles traditionnelles ultra-optimisées depuis des décennies. Elles ont perdu La tentative qui semble différente : Hippo Harvest, une start-up californienne, joue une autre carte. Pas de tours, pas de LED, des serres haute technologie avec du vrai soleil, et des robots mobiles autonomes qui circulent entre les cultures comme des mini-tracteurs. Résultats annoncés : 92% d'eau en moins, 94% de terres en moins, zéro pesticide de synthèse, prix compétitif face aux produits cultivés en plein air ! J'en rêve : j'ai toujours trouvé ça fascinant, l'agriculture à forte valeur ajoutée.
