August 20, 2026. I had the opportunity to deliver a session on Smart Farming using Automated Motor Systems and Solar Energy as part of the AICTE ATAL Faculty Development Programme at J.K.K. Munirajah College of Technology, Erode. JKKMCT SOCIAL MEDIA The discussion went beyond solar pumps, exploring the convergence of solar energy, agrivoltaics, smart irrigation, automation, IoT, AI, energy storage and Farming-as-a-Service (FaaS). A key perspective I shared: The next opportunity is not just selling a solar pump. It is delivering farming outcomes as a service. It was also very nice and refreshing to see that the campus was surrounded by beautiful farm lands and could be a great host for the given research topics. We also discussed real-world case studies, including TiHAN-IIT Hyderabad funded student project by GOVARTHANAN T R and project supported at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras done by Vishnupriyan V and team, PM-KUSUM and other government schemes, research gaps, career pathways and opportunities for innovation.
