    On enchaîne. Il est maintenant très probable que nous allons vivre l'El-Nino le plus intense depuis le début de son observation sur Terre (et surement depuis des siècles). Les premiers effets se font sentir avec un décrochage total des températures mondiales. Le mois d'août 2026 pourrait être le mois d'août le plus chaud sur Terre depuis le début des mesures. Nous ne sommes qu'à 0.11°C du record absolu mondial de température et 0.01°C du record absolu de la surface des océans. La méditerranée enchaîne les records absolus de température avec une canicule marine qui dure depuis des semaines avec jusqu'à +3 à +6°C d'anomalie. Les derniers relevés montrent qu'avec une moyenne de 28.5°C, la surface de la mer Méditerranée vient de battre son record absolu de température. En d'autres termes, la mer Méditerranée n'a jamais été aussi chaude tous mois confondus. Ce n'est que le début. Nous sommes partis pour 1 an d'incroyables records à l'échelle planétaire.

Shift of Value Equivalents: From Calorie to Teraflop 1. Fundamental Shift The history of civilization is a sequence of shifting value equivalents: grain, metals, fiat, bytes. The fundamental basis, however, has always been the calorie. A scenario where 1 TFLOPS becomes more expensive than 1 kg of flour marks a phase transition—the absolute alienation of humanity from primary biological resources in favor of algorithmic control. 2. Inversion of Base and Superstructure In classical economics, food is the base and digital systems are mere tools for efficiency. A cost inversion flips their positions: Agritech Dependency: Modern agriculture cannot function without satellite monitoring, precision NPK calculation, genetic modeling, and autonomous machinery. Logistical Luxury: When data processing costs more than grain, computing the delivery logistics consumes more resources than synthesizing the food itself. 3. Techno-Feudalism & Algorithmic Thrombosis A shift in primary value creates a rigid hierarchy: Node Owners: Operators of compute infrastructure and energy become sole issuers of value, establishing FLOPS as the reserve currency. Infrastructure Priority: Power grids prioritize compute clusters over food processing, as a kilowatt-hour spent on matrix operations yields higher returns. Loss of Connectivity: High optimization costs collapse supply chains. Local surpluses coincide with global famine as complex networks fragment into isolated, pre-industrial enclaves. 4. Current Price Parity (2026) Physical calories maintain absolute economic dominance over compute: 1 kg Wheat Flour (EU Retail): €0.80 — €1.50 1 TFLOPS-hour (NVIDIA H100): ~$0.003 (FP16) / €0.03–€0.05 (FP32) Compute remains 20 to 30 times cheaper than grain. The bottleneck is not silicon supply, but grid power availability. Core Takeaway: If a teraflop becomes more expensive than flour, the physical world will reclaim dominance by starving the power grid. The primary task of systems engineering is preventing algorithmic overhead from exceeding the value of the life it supports.

A Hands-On Journey in Seed Quality Testing 🌱 🫘 During my 5 months internship in National Agriculture Modernization Program at Banke district, Mid-Western Nepal, I had the opportunity to work at a Lumbini province-level seed testing laboratory; a place where seed lots from numerous seed-producing companies are rigorously examined before they ever reach a farmer's field. Here's a glimpse into the process I got to be a part of: 🔹 Sampling: Seed lots arrive from different companies, each representing a batch that needs quality verification. 🔹 Registration: Each incoming seed lot is registered and logged into the lab system, ensuring traceability from sample receipt to final test report. 🔹 Sub-sampling: The bulk seed lot is thoroughly agitated/mixed, and a working sample of approximately 70 grams or around (not less than) is drawn out to begin the purity test. 🔹 Moisture Test: Seed moisture content is measured to assess storage viability and overall seed health through moisture metre. 🔹 Purity Test: The sub-sample is separated into pure seed, other crop seed, weed seed, and inert matter, then individually weighed to determine the purity percentage of the lot. 🔹 Priming with GA3: Seeds are treated with Gibberellic Acid (GA3) to enhance germination potential where a small hormonal nudge that can significantly influence vigor and uniformity. 🔹 Setting the Germination Test: Next day, 100 seeds per replicate are carefully placed on moist germination paper, then incubated under controlled conditions (germinator). 🔹 Final Evaluation (Day 7): Seedlings are counted and categorized into normal seedlings, abnormal seedlings, dead seeds, and diseased seeds, determining the final germination percentage of the lot. Also I got to assist in germination test of various vegetables and cotton as well. Meanwhile, I am posting few photos of my work in paddy seeds. Working alongside experienced lab personnel, I didn't just observe. I assisted hands-on, learned by doing, and gained a much deeper appreciation for the precision and process behind something as small and ordinary-looking as a seed. We spent the last couple of days deep in the Venture UWA OZblu United Exports 'Hack the Harvest' hackathon! 🫐 The hours we spent talking to the OzBlu team and all the mentors shaped it more than anything else this weekend. Getting to sit down with people who actually run the operation, hearing and seeing what really matters on the ground versus what just sounds good in a slide deck completely changed our direction more than once, and the project is so much stronger for it. Thank you to everyone at OzBlu who gave up your time and patience for our endless questions. Genuinely could not have asked for a better team to do this with: Dyutiman Shiv, Pranav Menon, Hill Le, J-Ern Sia, Dashiel Balnaves, Dracyen Cheam and Victoria Mok.
