Day 4 of 14: The Hidden Cost of Fake Inputs in African Agriculture. Imagine investing your life savings into land and labor, only to discover at harvest time that the seeds you planted were counterfeit and the fertilizer was diluted. For millions of smallholder farmers in East Africa, this isn't just a hypothetical scenario—it's a devastating reality. The infiltration of fake inputs breaks the back of contract farming before the first shoot even breaks the soil. At iJembe, we believe that traceable input distribution is the foundation of high-yield contract farming. Bundled Integrity: We partner directly with certified agro-dealers and OEMs to supply pre-verified Input Packs directly to our outgrowers. Digital Vouchers: Our platform uses Form MTR-02 serial tracking and GPS-verified photo check-ins to ensure that the exact seeds financed are the ones planted in the ground. End-to-End Transparency: Urban investors and institutional off-takers can literally watch their capital transform into verifiable, high-quality agricultural inputs. We are 11 days away from our launch. We're proving that with the right digital rails, the risk of fake inputs drops to zero. I'm Dhanush. I grew up in Erode, a town most people drive through on the way to somewhere bigger. I studied genetic engineering. Did my master's in University of Bergen (UiB). Spent time in a lab at Harvard Medical School. And then I did the thing almost everyone advised me against: I came back. Not to Bangalore. Not to Boston. To Erode. Since then I've been building. MARABANU, a venture studio for founders in Tier 2 and Tier 3 India. A mushroom farm. An agritech venture. A bioinformatics platform. Some of it worked. Some of it taught me lessons I'd rather not repeat. All of it convinced me of one thing: the talent in places like this isn't missing. It's just unclaimed. I've spent long enough building alone. Here's what's next, and who I'm looking for. 1. BioHub A platform that takes research from patent to commercialisation. Thousands of Indian patents sit in university drawers and never become products. I want to fix that pipeline. Looking for: tech transfer people, scientists who want their work to leave the lab, IP folks, operators. 2. The Drone Company India's fastest drone. That's the whole brief. Looking for: aerodynamics and propulsion nerds, embedded systems and flight controller engineers, FPV builders, people who have crashed a lot of things and learned from it. 3. The Exoskeleton Project Wearable support for two kinds of people: factory workers whose bodies are breaking down from the job, and people living with Muscular Dystrophy and similar conditions. Looking for: biomechanics, robotics and actuator engineers, physiotherapists, clinicians, industrial designers. 4. D Studio A marketing agency built AI-native from day one, not an old agency with AI bolted on. Real output, real speed, real results for businesses. Looking for: AI-fluent creatives, performance marketers, video and motion people, brand strategists. 5. Ground-level operators This one is unglamorous and I mean that as a compliment. People who will sit at the mandi, the collection centre, the warehouse and actually build supply chains for dairy, agri produce and FMCG. Looking for: people who prefer field over desk, who know logistics, procurement and farmer networks. 6. Gen.AI Genetic counselling in India, delivered with the same reach and reliability as diagnostic care. Right now it's a luxury available to almost no one. Looking for: genetic counsellors, clinicians, healthcare operators, product people. 7. D Invest A VC firm to invest in and build startups across the world. This one needs two things: investors who want to back founders others overlook, and people who want to help build the firm itself. If you read one of these and felt something tighten in your chest, that's the signal. DM me. No résumé required. No permission required. Just tell me which number, and what you'd do with it. I'll reply to every single one.

#DataScience #MachineLearning #ArtificialIntelligence #Python #XGBoost #PowerBI #SHAP #SmartAgriculture #Agriculture #Internship #PFA

Why Do Many EPC Projects in Compressed Biogas (CBG) Fail? Good intentions alone are not enough to make a CBG project successful. From inadequate feedstock analysis and improper technology selection to poor pre-treatment, engineering gaps, insufficient commissioning, lack of long-term support, and unrealistic financial assumptions, small decisions can create major operational and financial challenges. A successful CBG project requires more than equipment—it requires proper planning, process integration, engineering expertise, commissioning, trained operations, and long-term technical support. Better Planning Builds a Stronger Tomorrow. At DAV Agrifuels Private Limited & DAV Agritech Private Limited, we believe that sustainable CBG projects are built on the right foundation—from concept and engineering to execution and long-term performance. 🌾 Our ancestors didn't guess. They read. They felt the soil. They watched the seasons. They knew. But farming isn't what it was. Thousands of hectares. Pivots spreading across the field. A climate that no longer follows the old patterns. The farmer hasn't changed. The challenge has. Today's field speaks a language human hands can't feel alone: Moisture shifting two feet underground Temperature rising before the plant shows it Stress building before the season reveals it This is why Q-Farming exists. Not to replace ancestral wisdom. To carry it forward. Real data. The right decision. Every time. The tradition is your foundation. Q-Farming is what you build on top of it. 🚜📊 #AgriTech #PrecisionAgriculture #QFarming #Farming

Hack for Humanity Harare 2026 — what a day! Yesterday, 22 hackers, five teams, mentors, astute judges and ecosystem partners gathered in Harare for the The AI Collective Hack for Humanity Hackathons 2026, in collaboration with Major League Hacking (MLH) and supported by Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries amongst many other stakeholders. Amid a highly competitive field of teams and compelling innovations, our team secured 2nd place. The mandate was simple, but the execution was not: What does humanity need next, and what can we build to help? Under the Best Use of the Google Gemini API challenge, we had one day to move from problem identification to research, architecture, development, testing, documentation and a live demonstration. I am deeply honoured that our work on MundaAI emerged with 2nd Prize, just one point away from 1st, in a field of fascinating solutions including PocketLedger, Funda AI, GeoAgriSense and Zimbabwe Nursing Tutor. MundaAI is an AI-powered agricultural intelligence and decision-support platform designed around a fundamental question: how do we make useful agricultural intelligence more accessible to the farmer? built around Gemini and multimodal AI, MundaAI explores the convergence of crop-image analysis, agricultural knowledge, weather intelligence, market intelligence, farm context and specialised tools, with WhatsApp providing an accessible interface for agricultural support. The idea is not simply to give farmers more information. It is to help them understand their situation, interpret relevant intelligence and determine what to do next. Farai Masotsha and I took our boots onto the podium to present and defend the system, with the wider work supported by our team of five astute developers, each contributing to the build in their own capacity. What impressed me most about the day was the seriousness of the builders. Different ideas, different approaches, different levels of experience, but one shared willingness to build under pressure and solve problems that matter. One day produced a prototype. One point separated us from first place but the real measure of MundaAI will be what we build beyond the hackathon. My sincere appreciation to AI Collective Zimbabwe, Major League Hacking, CZI, Econet Wireless, our judges, mentors, partners and organising team Christine Chitongo, Munenyasha Hove and Anesu Ndachengedzwa. The future of African innovation will not be built by waiting for perfect conditions. It will be built by identifying real problems, applying serious engineering, and having the courage to begin. Build what humanity needs next! A junior reached out yesterday asking what it takes to survive and build at SIH. It brought back all the memories from our SIH 2025 Grand Finale journey. Beyond the presentation slides, hackathons come down to one thing: EXECUTION. Our team built an autonomous agricultural solution combining a field rover (for ploughing, seed dispersal, and weeding) with an aerial drone for crop health surveillance. Integrating custom hardware, software, and autonomous controls over a period of 5 packed days was intense, exhausting, and easily one of the most rewarding engineering challenges I've tackled. Here is a short clip of our rover moving during testing! Huge shoutout to the team: Kumari Divija, Palak Ramani, Ranbir Kumar, Dhyan Desai, and Veeraj H. Bagmar. To all teams preparing for SIH right now: focus on the fundamentals and build for the field, not just the demo. #SmartIndiaHackathon #SIH #AgriTech #Robotics #EmbeddedSystems #Teamwork

Heavy‑lift agricultural drones: Why 350–550 cc engines are becoming the new standard Large‑scale precision farming keeps raising requirements for crop‑spraying UAVs: higher payload, longer on‑site working time, stable performance at high altitude, and lower operational cost. While battery‑powered drones dominate light‑to‑medium farm missions, heavy‑lift platforms are rapidly shifting toward 350 cc‑550 cc two‑stroke piston engines as the new propulsion baseline. Small‑displacement 120‑222 cc engines hit limits when maximum take‑off weight goes above 120‑150 kg: insufficient static thrust, high fuel burn under heavy load, and obvious power drop at 1 800 m altitude. On the opposite end, over‑700 cc units bring extra weight, bigger footprint and higher maintenance overhead. The 350‑550 cc sweet spot solves this trade‑off. ✅ Strong altitude‑adapted thrust: Typical 350 cc delivers ~47.5 kg static thrust at 100 m and retains 43.5 kg at 1 800 m; 550 cc reaches 70 kg thrust at sea‑level, supporting MTOW up to 220 kg. Perfect for 30‑50 L spraying payloads. ✅ EFI‑optimized fuel efficiency: EFI variants cut consumption to 7 L/h (350 cc) and 10 L/h (550 cc), greatly extending single‑sortie working time vs smaller carburetor‑only power units. ✅ Integrated generator capacity: Built‑in 800‑2000 W generators supply power for spray pumps, radar, and onboard avionics without extra auxiliary systems. ✅ Flexible hardware options: Air‑cooled / water‑cooled versions, optional 24 V electric start, push‑pull mounting fit both multi‑rotor and fixed‑wing heavy‑lift agricultural frames. For ag‑drone OEMs and service operators, 350‑550 cc engines balance payload, endurance, weight, size and field maintainability. As large‑acre spraying and spreading missions grow globally, this displacement band will keep defining heavy‑lift ag‑UAV propulsion. What is your priority when selecting heavy‑lift UAV power: thrust‑to‑weight, high‑altitude retention, or hourly operating cost? Comment below. #AgriTech #UAV #AgriculturalDrone #HeavyLiftDrone #PistonEngine #PrecisionFarming

#5 Where can an Agricultural Engineer work? This was one of the questions I started asking myself during my studies. The answer is: in many different industries. Agricultural Engineering can lead to career opportunities in areas such as: 1. Food Production & Processing 2. Quality Control & Quality Assurance 3. Irrigation & Water Management 4. Agricultural Machinery 5. Agricultural Production 6.Precision Agriculture & AgriTech 7. Storage & Post-Harvest Technology 8. Renewable Energy What makes this field interesting to me is that it doesn't limit an engineer to one specific path. Each area requires different skills and offers different opportunities to learn and grow. As I begin my professional journey, I’m particularly interested in Quality and the Food Industry, while continuing to develop my technical and professional skills. I believe that choosing a career path is not about having everything figured out from day one. It is about exploring, learning, and finding where you can create the most value. ✨️ #AgriculturalEngineering #CareerDevelopment #QualityControl #FoodIndustry #Engineering

I’m in #Bukovel, in the beautiful Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains attending the inaugural Carpathian 8 leaders and business Summit. I’m here representing the New Zealand Ukraine Business Association (NZUBA). This stunning region is the confluence of eight countries, connected by this mountain range, including Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Czechia, Austria and Serbia. The purpose of the Summit is straightforward: turn a shared geography into a working space for security, investment, and cross-border projects. On the table are about ninety projects seeking roughly $10.7 billion U.S dollars, heavily weighted to energy, logistics, infrastructure and agritech. So how can New Zealand participate? It’s certainly not by writing a government cheque. But we could make a significant contribution through: 🇳🇿Providing scale-up disciplines and the introduction of private capital; 🇳🇿Board-level governance from which I believe European and Ukrainian counterparts would benefit; 🇳🇿Agritech, logistics, and reconstruction-adjacent operating know-how; 🇳🇿A trusted third-country voice that is neither Brussels nor a neighbour with a border disputes. The Kyiv Post asked me to report on the Summit as attached. Please let me know your thoughts. #KiwiKARE #NZUBA #StandWithUkraine 🇺🇦🤝🇳🇿
