𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝟰𝟵: 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲. An agricultural advisory service was receiving questions from farmers across several states, in several languages, by voice and by text. The advisors were strong on agronomy and stretched thin on language. Queries in the dominant regional language got fast, good answers. Queries in the others waited, or got routed to whoever happened to be free. The service was inclusive on paper and uneven in practice. We did not rebuild their stack. We added two modest layers. First, language identification on every incoming query, including romanised text, so a message typed in Latin script still landed in the right queue. Second, entity extraction to pull the crop, the symptom and the district out of free text, so an advisor opened a query already structured rather than reading it cold. Response time evened out across languages, which was the actual goal. This sits right next to what Bhashini's Kisan e-Mitra is doing at national scale, voice-based help in many languages, and it shows the principle holds at small scale too. Inclusion is not answering in many languages. It is answering equally well in each. The text layer is what makes equal possible.
