Irrigation and fertilization are among the most impactful decisions a grower makes, yet most are still based on soil data that is weeks old by the time it arrives. Traditional lab testing gives a snapshot of a single moment, from a single sample point, with no visibility into how conditions are changing across the field in real time. The cost of this blind spot is significant, with billions spent globally each year on over-applied fertilizers that waste money, pollute waterways, and degrade the very soil they are meant to support.
Teralytic has built one of the most comprehensive wireless soil monitoring platforms available to close this gap. Each probe, deployed directly in the field, contains 26 sensors measuring nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, moisture, salinity, pH, aeration, respiration, temperature, light, and humidity at multiple depths throughout the root zone. The data flows continuously into a cloud-based analytics platform that tracks historical trends and generates predictive insights, giving growers the ability to see problems forming before they become visible above ground and to apply inputs based on what the soil actually needs rather than what a calendar or a lab report suggests.
The precision agriculture market is valued at over $11 billion and soil monitoring is one of its fastest-growing segments, reflecting a broader industry shift from scheduled, reactive farming toward continuous, data-driven decision-making. Teralytic has raised $24 million to date, backed by investors including Macquarie Group, R/GA Ventures, and the AB InBev 100+ Accelerator.
Congratulations to Trintus Smith, CEO, and the entire Teralytic team. It was a pleasure spending the week together in Utah and Las Vegas as part of START AgriTech #4, where the team engaged in strategic business meetings, investor conversations, expert workshops, and on-the-ground market exposure. Frontier RNG looks forward to continuing to support Teralytic as they help growers worldwide farm smarter from the ground up.
