    La fin de la sécheresse (météorologique) a été marquée par le début de la saison des orages méditerranéens offrant un spectacle grandiose durant l'intégralité de la nuit passée.     On enchaîne. Il est maintenant très probable que nous allons vivre l'El-Nino le plus intense depuis le début de son observation sur Terre (et surement depuis des siècles). Les premiers effets se font sentir avec un décrochage total des températures mondiales. Le mois d'août 2026 pourrait être le mois d'août le plus chaud sur Terre depuis le début des mesures. Nous ne sommes qu'à 0.11°C du record absolu mondial de température et 0.01°C du record absolu de la surface des océans. La méditerranée enchaîne les records absolus de température avec une canicule marine qui dure depuis des semaines avec jusqu'à +3 à +6°C d'anomalie. Les derniers relevés montrent qu'avec une moyenne de 28.5°C, la surface de la mer Méditerranée vient de battre son record absolu de température. En d'autres termes, la mer Méditerranée n'a jamais été aussi chaude tous mois confondus. Ce n'est que le début. Nous sommes partis pour 1 an d'incroyables records à l'échelle planétaire.

I used to see hemp as a niche product. Pavitra Joshi saw a rural economy hiding in plain sight. After studying social entrepreneurship at TISS, Joshi founded KumaonKhand in Almora in 2021 to build a Himalayan hemp value chain. 30Stades reports the venture now works with 2,500 farmers—nearly 90% women—and has reached about ₹1 crore in annual sales, with a ₹3 crore target next year. Those financial figures are company-reported, not independently audited. Its products span hemp foods, oils, wellness and clothing. The bigger story isn’t hemp. Rice, Sugar & Ethanol: Is India Putting Food Security at Risk for Fuel Security? 🌾⛽ India’s ethanol programme is one of the country’s most significant energy and agricultural policy transformations. Ethanol blending has reached 20%, helping reduce crude-oil import dependence, create new markets for agricultural commodities and strengthen India’s domestic biofuel economy. But an important question deserves a much deeper conversation: When food and fuel compete for the same agricultural resources, where should India draw the line? Rice is food. Sugar is food. Grain is food. Using genuine agricultural surpluses, damaged or obsolete grain, molasses, agricultural residues and other non-food biomass for ethanol can make strong economic sense. But increasing dependence on high-quality edible commodities as fuel feedstocks can create risks when food supplies tighten. The recent rise in Indian sugar prices provides an important reminder that food and fuel markets cannot be treated as completely separate systems. India does not need to choose between food security and energy security. Instead, it needs a smarter, food-first ethanol strategy. Key recommendations from our latest analysis: 🔹 Protect human food requirements before fuel conversion 🔹 Maintain adequate strategic food-grain reserves 🔹 Prioritise damaged, obsolete and downgraded grains where suitable 🔹 Expand the use of rice straw, wheat straw, maize residues and other agricultural biomass 🔹 Accelerate 2G/cellulosic ethanol technology 🔹 Introduce food-security triggers for sugar and grain diversion 🔹 Strengthen scientific storage and national food-stock monitoring 🔹 Develop an annual National Food-Energy Balance Sheet 🔹 Ensure farmers benefit without transferring excessive costs to consumers The future of India's biofuel sector should not be “food versus fuel.” It should be: Food-grade grain → Food Damaged/obsolete grain → Ethanol Agricultural residues → Advanced Ethanol Molasses & by-products → Ethanol Waste biomass → Energy That is how India can build a stronger circular bioeconomy without compromising food security. 📖 Read the full article: “Rice, Sugar and Ethanol: Is India Putting Food Security at Risk for Fuel Security?” What is your view? 🎉 New partner project of our Cluster of Excellence "PhenoRob" 🎉: We are happy to launch AgriLoop, an innovative new project under the High-Tech Agenda Germany 🇩🇪💡 🌱As modern greenhouse production faces rising operational complexity and skilled-labor shortages, the need for intelligent, sustainable management has never been higher. While robotic systems have advanced, they often lack the ability to truly operationalize expert human knowledge in an interactive, structured way. 🦾 AgriLoop aims to bridge that gap by developing an integrated human-in-the-loop system that allows agricultural experts to guide greenhouse robots using natural language. By combining multimodal AI (language, VLMs, and VLAs) with 3D crop-state perception and embodied robotics, we are enabling robots to not just monitor the greenhouse, but to understand and act upon expert instructions. 🤝  This project is an integrated German 🇩🇪 –Taiwanese 🇹🇼 partnership where the German team provides the robotic platforms, 3D perception pipelines, real-world greenhouse validation, and core domain-specific management expertise.
