On enchaîne.

80 YEARS OF FREEDOM. THE NEXT CHAPTER BEGINS IN THE FIELD. India's Independence Day is a moment to celebrate how far the country has travelled. It is also a moment to ask a more important question: Who will build the India of the next 25 years? Among the answers are millions of farmers. Farmers are not simply participants in India's food economy. They are custodians of land, contributors to food security, anchors of rural economies and increasingly important participants in India's technology-led transformation. Every crop represents a decision. Every harvest represents risk. Every agricultural season represents months of work before the outcome is known. And yet, agriculture continues. This is resilience. This is enterprise. This is nation-building. THE NEXT AGRICULTURAL REVOLUTION MUST BE FARMER-CENTRIC. Artificial intelligence, IoT, remote sensing, precision agriculture, digital intelligence and advanced farm-management systems are creating extraordinary possibilities. But technology alone does not transform agriculture. Adoption does. Access does. Trust does. And most importantly, measurable value for the farmer does. The future agricultural ecosystem must connect technology with farmers, FPOs, agribusinesses, institutions, markets and financial systems. That is how innovation becomes impact. On India's 80th Independence Day, we salute the farmers who have carried India's agricultural story through generations. We also extend a special and sincere thank you to Shri. Amitabh Bachchan for being part of this tribute. His association brings a powerful cultural voice to a message that deserves national attention: The people who feed India must be at the centre of India's future. At AgroNest, we believe the next generation of agriculture must be: More intelligent. More sustainable. More resilient. More connected. More inclusive. And, above all, more prosperous for the farmer. India has completed 80 years of Independence. Now we have the opportunity to build the next 25 years with greater ambition. From freedom to food security. From technology to farmer prosperity. From today's fields to tomorrow's India. Happy 80th Independence Day. Jai Hind. #IndependenceDay2026 #IndianAgriculture #Farmers #FoodSecurity #FarmerProsperity #AgriTech #PrecisionAgriculture #Innovation #RuralIndia #SustainableAgriculture #AmitabhBachchan #India #AgroNest

“Behind every cup of coffee is a story of innovation, resilience, and thousands of hands working together.” Today, I had the pleasure of visiting the team at Taylor Winch (Coffee) Ltd, and engaged in insightful discussions on some of the key developments shaping Kenya’s coffee sector. One area of focus was coffee warranting, particularly the impact of the Coffee E-Warrant solution implemented through Co-operative Bank of Kenya Direct Settlement System (DSS), a product that I take pride in championing. By replacing manual warrant processes that often took several days, the automated e-warrant system now enables warrants to be generated immediately upon coffee purchase, significantly improving efficiency, turnaround times, and ease of trade for coffee buyers across the country. Our conversations also extended to broader industry issues, including the implications of EUDR requirements, coffee traceability, evolving coffee regulations, and practical ways to ensure greater value reaches the smallholder farmer, whe backbone of Kenya’s coffee industry. These engagements continue to reinforce the importance of combining deep industry knowledge, strong stakeholder collaboration, and digital innovation to create solutions that strengthen the entire coffee value chain. As someone passionate about both the coffee sector and product development, it is always fulfilling to see technology transforming traditional processes, improving efficiency, and delivering greater value to all participants within the ecosystem. Even more exciting is having the opportunity to be at the centre of designing and implementing such solutions. It is equally a pleasure sharing conversations around this “black gold” of Kenya with equally passionate professionals such as the Volcafe team. Special thanks to the entire Taylor Winch Kenya team for the warm engagement and valuable discussions. “Great coffee is not only grown in the soil, it is built through collaboration, innovation, and a shared vision for those who produce it.” #Coffee #KenyanCoffee #CoffeeValueChain Dorine Atemi Makutwa Jack Marrian #CoffeeIndustry #CoffeeDSS #DigitalTransformation #ProductManagement #ProductOwnership #FinTech #Agritech #EUDR #Traceability #CoffeeInnovation #SmallholderFarmers #SupplyChain #Technology #DataDriven #Kenya #AfricanCoffee #Volcafe #TaylorWinch #CoffeeEnthusiast

Scaling Aquatic Plant Micropropagation: Why Bioreactors are the Future of Industrial Tissue Culture Traditional solid media (agar) culture has long been the gold standard for micropropagation. However, when transitioning from small-scale academic research to high-volume commercial production, agar-based methods encounter significant bottlenecks in labor costs, media preparation time, and growth rates. To overcome these limitations, Temporary Immersion Bioreactor Systems (TIS) offer an innovative liquid-phase alternative that dramatically accelerates biomass accumulation while maintaining strict aseptic control. Key Technological Advantages of Bioreactor Systems in Aquatic Plant Culture: 🔹 Automated Nutrient & Gas Exchange: Intermittent immersion ensures optimal nutrient absorption without tissue hyperhydricity (vitrification), driving faster shoot multiplication. 🔹 Exponential Biomass Scaling: Achieves up to 3x–5x higher proliferation rates compared to conventional static gel media. 🔹 Labor & Cost Efficiency: Drastically reduces vessel handling and labor-intensive subculturing steps. 🔹 Uniform Plantlet Quality: Produces synchronized, high-vigor propagules ideally suited for direct ex-vitro acclimatization and commercial cup packaging. 🔹 Precision Bio-Process Control: Enables fine-tuning of light, oxygenation, immersion frequency, and elicitation for targeted secondary metabolite production. By integrating bio-process engineering with plant biotechnology, we bridge the gap between laboratory innovation and scalable market demand for pest-free, premium aquatic flora. #Biotechnology #Bioreactors #PlantTissueCulture #Micropropagation #TIS #AquaticPlants #BioProcessEngineering #AgriTech #InVitro #BiotechInnovation

Day 1 | Preparing the Root Zone Day 1 of bed preparation — Polyhouse 1 🌱 The journey of our next English cucumber crop begins beneath the surface. Today, we are working on turning and loosening the soil as the first stage of bed making. This process is important because a well-prepared root zone lays the foundation for healthy establishment and uniform crop growth. Turning the soil helps to: • Break compacted layers and large soil clods • Improve soil aeration and root-zone porosity • Create a more workable and uniform soil structure • Improve water movement and drainage through the bed • Incorporate organic matter and previously applied amendments more evenly • Prepare the soil for proper bed shaping and final root-zone preparation For cucumber, where a strong and active root system is critical for consistent vegetative growth and fruit production, bed preparation isn’t just groundwork — it is crop management starting from Day 1. “A productive crop begins with a well-prepared root zone.” “Before the plant reaches for the light, its roots need the right foundation.” This is only Day 1. The soil is being prepared today; the coming steps will determine how that soil is shaped into a productive growing bed. Follow along as we take you through the next stages of bed preparation and eventually towards transplanting our English cucumber crop. 🌱 #EnglishCucumber #ProtectedCultivation #PolyhouseFarming #CucumberFarming #SoilPreparation #BedPreparation #PrecisionAgriculture #AgriTech #ModernFarming #GreenAura

How can New Yorkers enjoy fresh, locally grown produce year-round? 🍅   We're helping answer that question through Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) research. Assistant professors Dominique Holtappels and Samantha Willden are studying how mulches, companion plants, and biological controls affect crop production, while also investigating their impacts on pollinators, soil health and common Northeast pests and diseases.   As interest in year-round local food continues to grow, this research is helping address the challenges growers face and deepen our understanding of how CEA can work in New York.

🌱 Building PolaMitra — From Idea to a Working Startup I’m excited to share a milestone from a startup I’ve been working on: PolaMitra, an agriculture-focused e-commerce and agri-tech platform that connects farmers with agricultural products and services. The name PolaMitra comes from two Telugu words: 🌾 Polam (పొలం) — Farm / Field 🤝 Mitra (మిత్ర) — Friend Together, PolaMitra means “Friend of the Farm” — reflecting our vision of building technology that supports and connects farmers. Over the past few months, I’ve been working on the backend, focusing not just on individual APIs, but on building the complete operational flow behind an order. The backend is built using NestJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Prisma, with modules for: • Farmer authentication • Products, categories and cart • Checkout and payment verification • Order management • Warehouse and inventory operations • Village Partner management • Delivery partner authentication and management • Delivery assignment • Order activity and tracking • OTP-based delivery verification • Reports, invoices, returns and refunds One of the most rewarding milestones was successfully testing the complete end-to-end order workflow: Payment → Confirmed → Picking → Packed → Delivery Assignment → Out for Delivery → OTP Verification → Delivered ✅ Working on this helped me understand how different parts of a real-world startup need to work together — authentication, database design, business logic, role-based operations, inventory, payments, and delivery. The backend is now safely version-controlled on GitHub, and the next phase is to integrate it with the existing frontend and build a professional user experience for the different PolaMitra roles. Building PolaMitra has been a great learning experience in turning an idea into a functional product and understanding the challenges involved in developing a real-world technology startup. 🚀 Next milestone: Frontend integration and product experience. #PolaMitra #AgriTech #AgricultureTechnology #Startup #Entrepreneurship #SoftwareDevelopment #BackendDevelopment #NestJS #TypeScript #PostgreSQL #Prisma #FullStackDevelopment

🍎🤖 Building an AI-Based Fruit Grading & Sorting Prototype | e-Yantra One of the most exciting experiences of my year was participating in e-Yantra, an international-level robotics competition, as part of a team of four. With Agriculture as the theme, we worked on a problem that caught our attention: How can fruit grading and sorting be made more accessible, portable, and affordable? Our team proposed a portable, low-cost fruit grading and sorting system that combines computer vision, machine learning, and an automated sorting mechanism. 🔧 Our prototype included: • Raspberry Pi as the main processing unit • Camera module for fruit image acquisition • IR sensor for fruit/object detection • Conveyor belt system for fruit movement • Rotating platform for multiple-angle image capture • Image processing and an AI/ML-based grading model • Servo motor-based sorting mechanism • Separate bins for Grade A, B, and C fruits The overall workflow was: 🍎 Fruit Input → Detection → Image Capture → Image Processing → ML Classification → Grade Identification → Servo Control → Automated Sorting The Raspberry Pi acted as the central controller, processing the captured image and generating the grading decision. Based on the classification, control signals were sent to the servo-based mechanism to direct the fruit towards the appropriate sorting bin. Our journey through e-Yantra was also a major learning experience. As a team, we successfully cleared 3 evaluation sprints before being eliminated at the Pre-Regional Finals. Although we didn't make it to the regional finals, the competition gave us valuable hands-on experience in machine learning, computer vision, Raspberry Pi, embedded systems, mechanical prototyping, problem-solving, and team collaboration. More importantly, it taught me how challenging it can be to take an idea from a problem statement to a working physical prototype — and how much can be learned through each iteration. 🚀 Grateful to my teammates for the experience and the countless hours spent designing, building, testing, and improving our prototype. #eYantra #Agriculture #AgriTech #MachineLearning #ComputerVision #RaspberryPi #Robotics #EmbeddedSystems #AI #Automation #Teamwork #Innovation #LearningByBuilding
