Nigeria’s agriculture challenge is not simply a tractor shortage. It is a coordination challenge. A recent conversation around mechanisation in Nigeria made the point clearly: sustainable impact depends on the full system — equipment access, financing, maintenance, fleet tracking, service coordination and farmer demand — not just procurement. That lesson travels well across borders. • Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda and other African ecosystems are now being pushed to move AI solutions from ideation and pilots into deployment. • Nigeria is seeing renewed momentum around renewable energy for women and youth in agri-food systems. • Globally, the most useful ideas are increasingly converging: precision data, connected machinery, climate-smart irrigation, digital finance and farmer-centered advisory tools. The opportunity for Africa is not to copy Silicon Valley, the Netherlands, Israel, Brazil or India. It is to combine the best of those approaches with Africa’s own realities: fragmented plots, seasonal cash flow, logistics constraints and millions of smallholder farmers. The winning question is shifting from “How many machines can we buy?” to “How reliably can a farmer access the right service at the right time?” That is where technology becomes infrastructure — and where Nigerian innovation can matter globally. A few milestones, a lot of learning, and plenty more to build. It’s been a little while since my last update, but the past few months have been a productive stretch, especially at the intersection of data, technology, and agriculture. Here are a few highlights I’m proud of: AgriTech Innovation I wrapped up my participation in the GDSS-PSInno AgriTech Innovation Challenge, where our focus was on improving market access and logistics for smallholder vegetable farmers in Ghana. It was a valuable opportunity to think beyond technology and focus on practical problems affecting farmers. Leadership & Growth I also officially graduated from the Aspire Institute Leaders Program. Beyond the knowledge and skills, the experience challenged me to think differently about leadership, collaboration, and personal growth. Building & Technical Growth On the technical side, I’ve continued developing my Connect Page project while strengthening my skills in Python, SQL, Power BI, and data analytics through hands-on projects. Looking back, these aren't just items to tick off a list. Each experience has pushed me to learn something new, solve a different kind of problem, and become more intentional about the kind of work I want to do. I’m increasingly convinced that the intersection of agriculture, data, and technology is where I want to keep building. And honestly, the journey is just getting started. THE GREENHOUSE ROBOT PROJECT IS PROGRESSING SUCCESSFULLY Some time ago, we launched a campaign to support a promising and innovative product idea with pro bono industrial design services. Among the applications we received, we selected the greenhouse robot project submitted by Sistematik Robot for the real-world problem it addresses, its technological potential and the value it could create in agriculture. We did not approach this as a closed design project in which only the final product would be revealed. One of the key conditions of our offer was to share the project’s development stages, making the process of transforming an industrial design idea into a mature product visible. Sistematik Robot embraced this transparent approach, and our collaboration began on that basis. Today, we are pleased to announce that the project is progressing very successfully. The process began with an assessment of user needs and operating conditions. It is now taking a more tangible form through the development of the product architecture, usage scenarios, fundamental layout decisions and overall design language. Together with Sistematik Robot, we are carrying out a strong product development process in which technological expertise and industrial design advance towards a shared goal. In the coming period, we will continue to share the project’s different stages, the design challenges we encounter and the solutions we develop. Because we see value not only in the final outcome, but also in the journey and design decisions that lead to it. The development journey of the greenhouse robot continues. Cette microforêt est installée dans le parc de l'ITH - Institut Technique Horticole à Gembloux. Le terrain a été occupé très longtemps par une serre, qui a été démontée. L'institut a souhaité expérimenter un nouveau modèle de jardin en ville sur un sol compact et dégradé. Les arbres ont été plantés en février 2022 avec la participation des étudiants et de riverains. Le grand avantage d'une microforêt créée selon la méthode Miyawaki est de nécessiter très peu d'entretien. Elle est autonome au bout de 3 ans. Elle continue à évoluer librement. La microforêt s'intègre bien dans le projet paysager. Le quartier bénéficie d'un cadre de vie agréable où la nature s'exprime pleinement.
