As part of their practical training, students are working at Agro Tech Klaster LLC, the official dealer and service centre of the Tashkent Tractor Plant, located in Dustlik district. During the training, students are gaining practical experience in: 🔹 Operating modern cotton-picking machinery 🔹 Understanding the technical capabilities of agricultural equipment 🔹 Organizing maintenance and technical servicing 🔹 Applying engineering knowledge in real agricultural conditions 🔹 Developing practical competencies in modern agricultural mechanization Field-based training allows students to move beyond theoretical knowledge and gain direct experience with modern agricultural technologies and machinery. 🎓 Dual education creates a direct connection between the classroom and the workplace, helping students develop the technical skills, practical experience and professional competencies required by the modern agricultural sector. Kuayo: crop intelligence that works in the field, even without signal We've been building Kuayo at Prelyct, a mobile app for farmers and field officers across West Africa. Here's a first look at the prototype. What it does today: 1. Rice water monitoring (AWD). Alternate Wetting and Drying saves irrigation water. Kuayo shows each plot's water level against the soil and flags when a field drops below −15 cm and needs re-flooding. 2. AI crop disease scans. Pick a crop (maize, rice, tomato or cassava), take a photo of the leaf, and get a likely diagnosis with treatment steps and field practices. The goal is for scans to run on the phone itself, with no internet needed. 3, Spray advisories, tasks and worker check-ins. Field officers see the day's priorities in one place, and records sync once they're back in coverage. Rural farms often have patchy connectivity, so we're designing Kuayo offline-first from day one. This is an early prototype. Maize disease detection runs a real on-device model, and the other crops and the sensor data are still being developed. Yesterday at the Afrikagipfel in Stuttgart Messe, I had a very insightful engagement with a delegation of Kenyan entrepreneurs. Young, Vibrant, Enthusiastic and extremely clear about what they want: Business partnerships with German companies. One message came through loud and clear: Kenya is not waiting. The market is moving. The willingness to trade and invest is top-notch. What are they looking for? ✅ German machinery and equipment for agricultural value addition ✅ Processing, packaging, cold chain, milling, roasting, drying, dairy and horticulture technology ✅ Investors willing to partner along crop value chains not just export raw commodities ✅ Long-term partnerships: technology + training + service + financing=Excellence! The opportunity is huge. Kenya produces some of the best coffee, tea, avocado, mango, macadamia, dairy, grains and horticultural products. But too much value is still captured after the farm gate. German engineering can help change that and create shared prosperity. My appeal to German companies: Be more open to trade and partnership with Kenya and other African markets. The changes are real. The entrepreneurs are ready. The demand for value-addition solutions is high. What is often missing is not willingness it is connection, follow-up, and financing models that work locally. If you are a German company in agro-processing, machinery, packaging, cold chain, or impact investment, this is your moment. Let’s stop treating Africa as a risk to be managed and start treating it as a market to be built with.
