My greenhouse was saving water. That was the problem. Tomatoes in coco slabs are fed water + fertilizer a dozen times a day. Growers want 20–30 % of it to run out the bottom: that drain water is how the salt leaves. My GH-01 digital twin had a drain meter that said 40 %. The number was made up: it only ever went up. So I modelled where the water really goes, slab by slab: → only 13 % drained → over a month, the salt around the roots (slab EC) climbed from 3.7 to 7.2, and kept rising → growers aim for about 3.5–5 The fix: after every watering, the AI checks the drain. Under 20 %, it waters sooner. Over 30 %, later. Same month with the fix: 25 % drain, root-zone salt held at about 5. It costs 16 % more water, on purpose. It's a simulation; the numbers come from running the twin's own code for 30 days, before and after. What should I fix next? #agritech #hydroponics #polyhouse

L’objectif de ce stage est de participer à la compréhension de cet effet héritage « hydraulique » d’un précédent cultural à une meilleure tolérance (ou non) de la culture d’intérêt. Le stage s’inscrit dans des travaux de thèse débutés en 2026 et qui abordent en 2027 cet effet héritage avec une expérimentation en colonnes de sol en serre, visant à analyser la réponse au déficit hydrique de la tomate selon l’effet d’héritage « hydraulique » (et bio-physico-chimique) de son précédent cultural (orge, luzerne et sol nu). L’hypothèse est ici que des architectures racinaires contrastées des précédents culturaux (fasciculé avec des racines fines pour l’orge, pivotant avec des racines épaisses pour la luzerne) vont donner des réponses contrastées également pour la tomate qui suit. L’étudiant.e participera à cette expérimentation en conditions semi-contrôlées avec un focus sur les réponses de la tomate au déficit hydrique. Sur ces cultures menées dans des colonnes de sol (dont certaines sont équipées de capteurs mesurant l’eau du sol), des suivis quotidiens des plantes accompagnés de mesures écophysiologiques seront menés ; ainsi que des suivis de campagnes de prélèvements puis de mesures sur le sol et sur ses traits rhizosphériques.
