• increased productivity without proportional expansion of land

This scientific foundation makes Brazil a stable, high-volume, climate-diverse supplier, a strategic asset for Canada as global food systems grow more fragile.
Why Canada matters for Brazil and Mercosur ?
Canada is a sophisticated, stable and innovation-driven market that aligns perfectly with Brazil’s agrifood strengths.
It offers:
• strong demand for high-quality, sustainable food
• complementary trade in fertilizers, machinery, agritech and clean technologies
• a safe, predictable environment for long-term agribusiness partnerships
• diversification beyond traditional US and EU markets
The bilateral trade foundation is already strong, but with the right agreement, the potential multiplies — especially for processed foods, proteins, plant-based innovations, grains and fruit.
Why is accelerating the Canada–Mercosur Trade Agreement urgent ?
In a world facing climate risks, geopolitical uncertainty and volatile supply chains, predictable and transparent trade frameworks are more important than ever. A modernized agreement would:
• reduce barriers
• create investment confidence
• strengthen agrifood resilience for Canada
