French development finance institution Proparco has invested €150,000 (KES ~23M) in Kenyan agritech startup Farm to Feed, which connects smallholder farmers with predictable buyer demand while reducing food waste. Founded in 2021, Farm to Feed has 5,500 registered farmers and 160+ B2B customers, and has grown by more than 100% YoY for three consecutive years. Its 2025 impact report says farmers using the platform saw incomes rise 249%, while food loss fell 81%.

We were honored to receive a cash prize of ₹2,000 for our project: ♦️ AI Enabled Early Warning System for Fungal Growth in Stored Grains ♦️ Theme: AgriTech | AI and Machine Learning | Food Safety Our project focuses on using AI and machine learning to provide an early warning for fungal growth in stored grains, with the aim of supporting better food safety, reducing post harvest losses, and enabling timely intervention. This hackathon was a wonderful opportunity to transform an idea into a meaningful solution while learning, experimenting, and working together as a team. The experience challenged us to think beyond just building a project and focus on solving a real world problem. A huge shoutout to my amazing teammates Git Happens for the teamwork, discussions, late hours, and continuous support throughout the hackathon. 🚀 From an Idea to the Internal Smart India Hackathon 2026! I’m excited to share a memorable milestone in my engineering journey — participating in the Internal Smart India Hackathon 2026 as the Team Leader of Team InferaX. 🏆 Our journey started with understanding the problem statement: PS ID: 26132 “Strengthening Market Linkages and Price Discovery for Farmers” 🌾 Theme: Agriculture, Food Tech & Rural Development 💻 Category: Software After being selected for the internal hackathon, our team worked on “Smart Crop Market Connect” — a solution focused on helping farmers make better selling decisions by connecting them with markets and buyers. 💡 What we worked on: 📊 Studied the farmer-market linkage and price discovery problem. 🌾 Designed a platform to bring market prices, buyer demand and quality requirements together. 🤖 Planned AI-based price prediction and Sell Now / Wait recommendations. 💰 Focused on comparing buyer offers based on net profit after transportation and storage costs. 🚚 Included logistics, order and payment tracking concepts. 🤝 Proposed verified buyers, demand aggregation and FPO-based group selling. 🎤 Prepared our PPT, solution architecture and presentation for the hackathon. 🧠 Most importantly, learned how to turn a real-world problem into a practical technology-driven solution. Being the Team Leader taught me much more than technical skills. It taught me about team coordination, communication, responsibility, decision-making and presenting an idea with confidence. This is not just a certificate for me — it represents teamwork, learning, leadership and one more step toward becoming an AI/ML & Backend Engineer. Right Price. Right Buyer. Most agritech startups don't fail because their technology is weak. They fail because they build for the screen, not the soil. Delighted to share that my new article, "Why Agritech Start-ups Fail to Satisfy Farmers' Needs?", is out in Krushi Kayaka magazine. A few key takeaways from the piece: Complexity kills adoption: If an advisory requires three taps too many or isn't in the farmer’s native language, it won’t be used. ROI must be immediate: Farmers operate on razor-thin margins and absorb enormous climate risk. Tech must de-risk their season, not add a subscription burden. Algorithms cannot replace field presence: Tech scale is meaningless without localized, trusted human touchpoints. If agritech is to create real impact, founders must spend less time pitching to investors and more time listening at the farm gate. Grateful to "Krushi Kayaka" for publishing this work. Le 10 septembre 2026, j’ai soutenu mon projet de fin d’études, une étape importante qui marque la fin de mon cursus en agronomie et la validation de ma formation d’ingénieure agronome. Cette soutenance a été l’occasion de présenter un travail consacré à une problématique au cœur des enjeux agricoles actuels, l’évaluation d’un biostimulant à base de bactéries lactiques et de son potentiel pour améliorer la réponse des plantes au stress hydrique. L’étude a porté sur quatre espèces, le blé, le colza, la tomate et le haricot commun, avec un travail allant de la mise en place et du suivi des essais sous serre jusqu’à l’analyse et l’interprétation des résultats. Ce projet m’a surtout permis de mesurer à quel point les réponses des plantes peuvent varier selon l’espèce, le stade de développement ou encore les conditions de culture, et combien l’expérimentation réserve parfois des résultats très différents de ceux que l’on attend au départ.  Je remercie les membres de mon jury, Sameh Selim, Hubert Drieularochelle et Ramla LANDOULSI - MOTEL, pour la qualité de nos échanges et leurs remarques constructives. J’adresse également mes sincères remerciements à Alicia Ayerdi Gotor et Stéphane Firmin pour leur accompagnement et leurs conseils tout au long de ce projet. Je termine ce parcours avec fierté et avec l’envie de mettre mes compétences au service de projets en agronomie, en productions végétales et en expérimentation.

Attended Agricon Horticonnect Expo India 2026 🌱 Had a great experience at AgriCon–HortiConnect India 2026, with some very insightful conversations. At the Netherlands Pavilion, I spoke with Desh Ramnath and Daan Mansveld about protected cultivation and how it can support Indian farmers. We discussed how greenhouse technology and modern cultivation practices can improve productivity, use resources efficiently, and strengthen food security in India. I also met Akbhar from South Africa, who shared useful insights on the latest innovations in agri-packaging, an area that plays a key role in reducing post-harvest losses and extending shelf life. Key takeaways: ✅ Protected cultivation can raise yields and quality for Indian farmers ✅ Global collaboration can speed up agri-innovation ✅ Better packaging means less wastage and better returns Grateful for the learning and connections. What Agricultural Economics taught me about UX Design: Before I started learning UI/UX, I spent years studying Agricultural Economics. I used to think these were two completely different worlds. But the more I learn about UX, the more I see the same principles: 1.Farmers are not "users". They are people with real constraints: weather, time pressure, and low digital literacy. A design that ignores this will fail. 2.Data alone is not enough. A yield number means nothing without context. Good design turns data into decisions. 3.Trust is everything. A farmer won't use a tool they don't understand or trust. And trust is built through simplicity, not complexity. This is why I'm combining my agricultural background with UX design. AgriTech needs designers who understand both the technology and the people using it. I'm building my portfolio around this. In agriculture, the network is valuable because different participants solve different parts of the farmer’s problem. Agriculture has many digital initiatives and networks, but they are still highly fragmented and often lack seamless integration across organisations, data systems, and services. Indian agriculture doesn’t lack technology. It lacks enough interoperability between the technologies, businesses and people already working in the ecosystem. We have agri-input platforms, FPO platforms, drone platforms, marketplaces, credit lending platforms, weather and satellite data, government digital infrastructure , but many of these systems still operate in silos. A farmer may interact with five different organisations to solve one problem. Interoperability connects the ecosystem. Network effects strengthen it and the farmer should be the biggest beneficiary. The opportunity we see is to onboard the right players who can connect, integrate their capabilities and collectively solve more of the farmer’s problems.
