Rythu Mitra is not just another AI application. It is a project built with a real problem in mind — helping farmers use technology in a simple and practical way.
As a farmer’s son from Andhra Pradesh, I wanted to explore how AI can be applied to problems that farmers actually face.
I’ve built Rythu Mitra — Phase 1, a working demo that brings together:
🔹 Crop Disease Detection
A farmer can take a photo of a leaf → ML identifies the possible disease → provides a simple Telugu explanation with voice support.
🔹 Voice Q&A — Telugu + English
Using Google Gemini Live LLMs, farmers can ask questions naturally through voice and receive practical answers without typing.
🔹 Live Weather + Irrigation Advice
Real-time weather information combined with AI-generated guidance based on the crop and its growth stage.
The application is designed around simplicity — large buttons, voice interaction, Telugu support, and minimal typing.
But this is only Phase 1.
The larger vision is to explore solutions for challenges such as:
• Unnecessary fertilizer recommendations
• Unfair pricing between farmers, middlemen, and buyers
• Lack of transparent and accessible mandi price information
• Limited region-specific crop disease data
Future Roadmap
→ Build reliable mandi-price data through RBKs
→ Develop stronger Andhra Pradesh-specific crop disease datasets
→ Improve ML accuracy with real-world data
→ Explore AI-based identification of when crops actually require spraying
→ Make the solution accessible through WhatsApp-based services
Andhra Pradesh Vision 2047 should not be about technology alone.
It should also be about using technology to solve practical problems in agriculture and improve accessibility for the people who need it most.
This is AI beyond the screen.
This is AI inside farming.
Rythu Mitra is currently a working demonstration, but the goal is to explore what is possible when AI, agriculture, and real-world problems come together.
Inspired in part by the movie Mr. WorkFromHome, this project is my small attempt to contribute to that larger vision.
I’m sharing the complete demo video to show how the application works end-to-end.
