Yesterday at the DigitaliseringsEvent, an event on the latest developments in digital tools for horticulture organized by Glastuinbouw Nederland, the most important lesson wasn't in an AI model. It was in the sensor data quality. Comparing two crops when your PAR sensors are 5% apart? That won't work. And you'll keep feeling you're doing worse than your neighbour. Feije de Zwart of Greenhouse Horticulture - Wageningen University & Research showed where the problem starts. One measurement is no measurement. Gas and electricity meters have calibration protocols. The sensors we steer a crop on have almost none. The room went straight to discussing the value of measurements versus calculations. My position: that matters less than knowing how your number came about. An uncalibrated sensor and a calculation without context are both an assumption, not a fact. That is also the heart of Max van den Hemel's session on the future of crop knowledge advice with AI. The growers named trust in the advice as the biggest barrier to AI adoption. Most growers already use dashboards and data every day. Acting on what the data "says" is the hard part. So it becomes a real problem the moment a model, an advisory system or an AI agent starts calculating on that number. Intelligence on poor input doesn't give you improvement. It gives you a convincing wrong answer, faster than ever before. That's why validation isn't a side issue, but the first step of the advice. Part of it can be automated with the data that's already there. CO2 concentrations in comparable compartments should drift towards comparable values at night with dosing switched off. If they don't, you know enough. And then there's the metadata. A calculated light sum only holds up if you know when the greenhouse was chalked and what the transmission of the screens and the cover actually is. The same goes for the crop context: variety, planting date, crop load, strategy. Metadata isn't record-keeping after the fact. It's the precondition for advice that means anything, especially if you expect AI to make something of it. Before you turn AI loose on your crop: could a colleague work out from your data what you did last season? If not, neither can an AI model. #greenhousehorticulture #glastuinbouw #datadrivengrowing #agritech #plantphysiology Glastuinbouw Nederland Ledgnd

🚇 72 Hours in a Moving Metro | 3rd Rank in AgriTech | 200+ Teams What happens when you combine coding, teamwork, sleepless hours, and a moving metro for 72 hours? You get an experience that is hard to forget! Recently, I had the opportunity to participate in the 72-hour HackInMotion Hackathon organized by RICR — an incredible hackathon experience conducted inside a moving metro. And I'm excited to share that our team secured 3rd Rank in the AgriTech Category in an event with 200+ participating teams! 🏆 Over those three intense days, we worked on building a Smart Farm Decision Support System — a technology-driven solution designed to help farmers make smarter and more data-driven decisions. During the hackathon, I contributed across development, integration, and deployment, including: • Building and integrating features using Next.js, React and TypeScript • Working with Node.js, Prisma and MongoDB • Collaborating through Git branches, merges and resolving conflicts • Containerizing the application using Docker • Working on deployment using AWS EC2 • Debugging and integrating features under tight deadlines 🔗 GitHub Repository: https://lnkd.in/d_7h-qBm Those 72 hours were about much more than coding. From turning an idea into a working solution to handling unexpected technical challenges, the experience taught me a lot about teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability and building under pressure. Securing 3rd Rank in the AgriTech Category made this journey even more memorable. A huge shoutout to my amazing teammates Harsh Kumar Verma, Aadarsh Dubey, Vijay Patel for the teamwork, late-night debugging, discussions and effort throughout those 72 hours. 🙌 Grateful to our mentors and RICR - Raj Institute of Coding and Robotics for giving us the opportunity to build, learn and compete in such a unique environment. Definitely an experience I'll remember for a long time. 🚀 #HackInMotion #RICR #Hackathon #AgriTech #SmartFarming #SoftwareDevelopment #FullStackDevelopment #BackendDevelopment #Docker #AWS #NextJS #ReactJS #Teamwork

🏆 3rd Position at TechExhibit — Air University Multan Campus I’m genuinely happy to share a milestone from my Final Year Project journey. Our project Digital Kissan App secured 3rd Position at the Final Year Project Exhibition TechExhibit at Air University Multan Campus. 🎓🚀 This achievement means a lot to me because it represents months of learning, development, problem-solving, testing, and teamwork that went into turning an idea into a working solution. Digital Kissan App was developed with a simple goal: to make useful agricultural information more accessible to farmers through technology — including weather information, alerts, farming guidance, crop-related information, and other digital services. I’m sharing the official event photos and videos from the exhibition along with this post to document the achievement and the experience of presenting our project in front of judges, students, and visitors. For everyone who has been asking or wondering whether it was actually me — yes, it was. 😄 Proud of how far this journey has taken me, and even more excited about what comes next. A big thank you to our supervisor, teammates, teachers, judges, and everyone who supported us throughout the project. ❤️ This is not the finish line. It’s another step forward. 🚀 #TechExhibit #FinalYearProject #AirUniversity #AirUniversityMultan #DigitalKissan #SoftwareEngineering #Flutter #Technology #AgricultureTechnology #AgriTech #Pakistan #StudentAchievement #SoftwareDeveloper #FYP

"The ongoing war in the Middle East has sharply reduced oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, but has not yet triggered a severe recession. This status quo is not sustainable. Inventories have shrunk significantly in many regions, European gas reserves are well below prior-year levels, and rising fertilizer prices and El Niño are weighing on agricultural yields. For investors, energy and food prices therefore remain central drivers of inflation and economic growth. In addition to traditional exposure to energy and commodities, we see attractive long-term opportunities in energy infrastructure, agritech, and innovative solutions across the food value chain."
