What if the digital infrastructure built for Indian agriculture could be adapted to serve farmers across Africa?
That was one of the key themes as we at SatSure engaged with a delegation from Equity Group Holdings, Kenya, during their visit to #Bihar to understand India’s digital agriculture ecosystem and the role of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in financial inclusion.
From helping build Bihar’s digital farm foundation across all 38 districts to enabling smarter agricultural lending through SatSure SAGE, the idea is simple: turn farm-level data into reusable digital infrastructure that banks, fintechs and other institutions can integrate into their own systems.
Build once. Integrate easily. Scale across use cases and geographies.
The same foundation can support decisions across the crop lifecycle, from credit assessment before sowing to crop monitoring, Climate risk identification and collections.
With the right ecosystem of government, financial institutions and technology partners, this model has the potential to extend beyond India and create value for smallholder farmers in markets such as Africa.
Thank you to MSC (MicroSave Consulting) , the Government of Bihar, NABARD - National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Equity Group delegation for the valuable exchange of perspectives.
For me, the larger takeaway is this: the real potential of DPI lies not just in digitising a service, but in creating shared foundations on which multiple institutions can build, integrate and innovate.
When farm-level intelligence becomes reusable infrastructure, its value can extend far beyond a single product, institution or country.
