Yesterday was one of the most humbling moments of my journey as a founder. Standing at Rashtrapati Bhavan, invited by the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, and receiving recognition in the presence of the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, as a Grassroots Innovator, is something I never imagined when we started Ekosight. But as I held this invitation in my hand, I couldn’t help thinking about where this journey actually began. It began in farmers’ fields. It began with countless soil samples, long days under the sun, conversations with farmers who simply wanted to know why their crops weren’t performing, and the belief that every farmer deserves access to scientific soil intelligence—not just those living near sophisticated laboratories. This recognition is not the destination. It is a reminder that problems rooted in villages deserve world-class innovation. At Ekosight, we are building India’s largest network of Soil Doctor Clinics—bringing portable diagnostics, AI-powered recommendations, and last-mile agricultural intelligence directly to farmers. Our vision is simple: make scientific decision-making accessible to every farmer, not just a privileged few. There is still a long way to go. Millions of farmers are yet to receive a proper soil diagnosis. Thousands of villages still lack access to timely agronomic intelligence. That’s the challenge that motivates us every morning. I am deeply grateful to the Atal Innovation Mission and NITI Aayog for this honour and for believing in grassroots innovators who are solving real problems on the ground. The future of Kenyan coffee is digital, traceable, and deforestation-free. As the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) reshapes global coffee trade, many see it as a compliance challenge. We see it as an opportunity to create more value for our coffee farmers. At CropChainAfrica, we have been working on an AI-powered platform that will help coffee farmers, cooperatives, exporters, and international buyers meet EUDR requirements while unlocking access to premium global markets. Our solution will enable: 🌱 Digital farm mapping and geolocation 🛰️ Satellite-based deforestation monitoring 📱 Digital farmer passports 🌳 Tree and biodiversity monitoring 📊 AI-powered Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) ☕ End-to-end traceability from farm to export 📑 Simplified EUDR compliance for cooperatives and exporters Most importantly, this is about farmers. When farmers can prove where their coffee was grown, demonstrate that it is deforestation-free, and share a trusted digital story with buyers, they become more competitive and are better positioned to earn higher-value market opportunities. Over the past few weeks, we have been leading awareness conversations on EUDR and engaging stakeholders across the coffee value chain. The response has reinforced one thing: Kenya is ready to embrace the next generation of sustainable coffee production. Once our awareness campaign concludes, we will officially launch the CropChainAfrica EUDR platform and begin working with coffee cooperatives, exporters, and partners to make compliance simpler, more affordable, and more accessible.
