Central Asian Roots. Global Ambitions: The Startups Crossing Borders and Winning Markets
In recent years, Central Asia has experienced a rapid growth in startup activity, driven by factors such as increasing internet penetration, access to funding, and a burgeoning culture of entrepreneurship
Startups in the region are leveraging technology to address local and global challenges, disrupt traditional industries, and create innovative solutions for the market.
From e-commerce platforms and fintech startups to agritech and health tech ventures, Central Asian startups are making their mark on the global stage, attracting attention from global investors and industry players alike
RISE Research reports that venture funding reached $320 million in 2025
However, Higgsfield and Uzum accounted for 61% of the total
Excluding these deals, funding still grew 31% to $124.5 million—a useful reminder that both momentum and concentration matter. (rise.com.kz, timesca.com)
Three routes to international growth stand out:
• Building for global markets. Higgsfield, with founders connected to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, raised $400 million at a $5.4 billion valuation in August 2026.

• Expanding products developed in Central Asia. Tashkent-founded TASS Vision’s retail technology was deployed in more than 3,000 stores across ten countries by July 2026, according to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies. (digital.gov.uz)
• Bringing international capital into domestic opportunities. Uzum illustrates this route: its March 2026 financing attracted more than $130 million, led by sovereign entities from Oman, to support Uzbekistan’s digital ecosystem. (uzum.com)
International connections are also becoming more organized.
IT Park Uzbekistan reports that over 100 startups have participated in nine major international technology exhibitions through Central Asian Innovation Hubs.

What does it take to turn visibility into sustainable growth?
At GITEX Central Asia, SBI Ventures’ Andrea Bohmert emphasized that valuation and global competitiveness are different tests.
MA7 founder Murat Abdrakhmanov highlighted distribution, international networks and the difficulty of adapting locally designed products to new markets. (astanatimes.com)
The next milestone should be measured through repeat overseas customers, sustainable revenue and the skills and opportunities these companies create across Central Asia.
The spesial attention deserves now: access to capital, international sales capabilities and cooperation between regional ecosystems
