On enchaîne.

“Fixing India’s Perishable Food Chain” India wastes nearly 40% of its fruits and vegetables before they reach consumers, worth over ₹90,000 crore a year. The cause isn’t production — it’s logistics. Weak cold storage, fragmented transport, and long middlemen chains kill freshness and profit. Startups like Inficold, Tan90, and Ecozen are bridging gaps with solar cold rooms and data-driven storage. But scale still lags. Every mandi and district needs micro cold depots and insulated links to cities. Farmers deserve better logistics, not sympathy. What’s your view on this? #Logistics #SupplyChain #ColdChain #FoodSecurity #India #AgriTech #Perishables #Fruits #Vegetables #FarmToFork #Innovation

I know Bt-cotton is already approved in Ethiopia, but as a concerned citizen of Ethiopia and for our innocent marginalised small-scale farmers with no knowledge about it and no scientist speaks out loud for them, I will keep my mouth shoutout loud! Below is my personal reflection about this issue. Dear esteemed #FDREofficials, what will be the possible solution if a wave of Fall Armyworm (FAW) comes and eats Bt cotton? Critical look at Bt Cotton in Ethiopia: Why It's NOT a Silver Bullet against the major threat, Fall Armyworm! As Ethiopia considers the approval of Bt cotton, a crucial fact demands our attention: Fall Armyworm (FAW) eats Bt cotton. This isn't a speculation; it's an established agricultural reality. While Bt cotton is engineered to control specific pests like the American Bollworm, it falls dangerously short against the very threat that devastates our fields—FAW. Here’s why: 🟡 Built-In Ineffectiveness: The first-generation Bt toxins (Cry1Ac, Cry2Ab) are not designed to control FAW. This pest has a natural tolerance, allowing it to feed on and damage Bt cotton crops freely. 🟡 Rapid Resistance: FAW is notorious for its ability to develop resistance. In the Americas, where Bt cotton has been used for years, FAW has already overcome the technology, forcing farmers back to heavy pesticide use. The result? Bt cotton fields can still be overrun by FAW, negating the core promise of reduced pesticide use and leading to crop loss and unexpected chemical costs for farmers. While "pyramided" Bt varieties with multiple toxins (like Vip3A) offer better control, the risk of resistance remains high. This creates a technological treadmill that our farming communities may not be equipped to manage. As we deliberate this critical decision for Ethiopia's agricultural future, we must ask: · Are we investing in a solution that is already compromised against our number one pest threat? · Is this the most resilient and sustainable path for our farmers? Let's prioritize a science-based, holistic approach that addresses the real challenges on the ground, rather than adopting a partial solution that could leave our farmers vulnerable. #BtCotton #Ethiopia #Agriculture #FallArmyworm #FoodSecurity #SustainableFarming #AgriTech #Policy #FarmersFirst Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute - EBI Environmental Protection Authority, FDRE #CBD Ministry of Agriculture, Ethiopia

Innovation thrives when it’s at the center of your company strategy, done in partnership, with purpose. The announcement of the 2025 Louis Dreyfus Company Climate Resilience Prize at the MassChallenge Switzerland Awards is more than a celebration—it’s a powerful example of how Open Innovation drives impact. Congratulations to IBISA NETWORK, whose satellite-based parametric insurance solution helps farmers and agri-businesses withstand climate shocks. This is exactly the kind of bold thinking our sector needs. And they are not the only one. My team is seeing more than 100 startups a year and every year new solutions and partnership arise. Why does this matter? It fits with our strategy and our sustainability commitment: It connects external creativity with internal capabilities to accelerate solutions with global impact. It requires effort and teamwork: Building partnerships, sharing knowledge, and integrating ideas into real-world applications is not easy—but it’s essential. The payoff is transformative: Together, we can create the business transformation needed that deliver measurable climate impact. At LDC, we believe innovation is not a one-off project—it’s a discipline embedded in our culture and strategy. Supporting visionary entrepreneurs is part of that journey. Let’s keep pushing boundaries, because the future of sustainable food production depends on it. #OpenInnovation #ClimateResilience #MassChallenge #WeAreLDC #Sustainability #AgriTech
