🚀 A new chapter begins!
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve officially started my PhD in Sciences of Engineering, where I’ll be exploring how digital twins, soft sensors, and machine learning can revolutionize the optimization of food and biotechnological processes.
The goal of my research is to bridge advanced computational modeling with real-world applications, creating digital frameworks capable of simulating and optimizing complex unit operations — from freeze drying to bioreactor control, and even processes in traditional industries such as tequila production.
By combining sensor data, artificial intelligence, and dynamic process modeling, I aim to design systems that can predict, adapt, and optimize in real time — improving efficiency, product quality, and sustainability. But beyond performance, the true purpose of this work is democratization:
to make these cutting-edge tools accessible and practical for small and medium producers, not just large-scale facilities.
🌱 In simple terms:
We want to absorb the complexity of advanced technologies — so that end users don’t have to. The result will be intelligent, user-friendly systems that empower local producers, reduce waste, and support a more sustainable and equitable food ecosystem.
This project is part of the broader initiative on Modeling, Monitoring, Control, and Optimization of Food and Biotechnological Processes at ITESO, with the collaboration of Université Laval (Canada) and other research partners.
This journey will bring together disciplines like transport phenomena, artificial intelligence, image analysis, and process engineering, all aligned with the principles of Industry 5.0 — where technology serves people and sustainability drives innovation.
I’m excited (and a bit humbled) to take this step, surrounded by mentors, colleagues, and friends who share the same vision:
to make science not only powerful, but inclusive.
