Had a great time at the Agri-TechE #REAP2025 conference! 🚜 The emphasis on the importance of collaboration to create user-focused solutions was inspiring. As a patent attorney, my mind was immediately drawn to the vital need to seek early IP protection and iron out ownership early on. Taking these steps prevents issues later down the line and facilitates turning agritech innovations into scalable commercial products. Plot twist in Singapore’s food security plan: “30 by 30” is now “30/20 by 35”. From: “30 by 30” = producing 30% of Singapore’s nutritional needs locally by 2030 To: ✅ 30% by 2035 for protein ✅ 20% by 2035 for fibre ❌ Alternative proteins (plant-based, cultivated meat, and fermentation) are out of the short-term strategy. Here’s the twist: 🥚 🐟 🍤 Protein means only eggs, fish, and crustaceans. So meats, dairy, and molluscs (e.g., clams, oysters, mussels, scallops, squid, and octopus) are apparently excluded. 🥬 🍅 🌱 🍄 Fibre means only leafy and fruited vegetables, bean sprouts, and mushrooms, specifically excluding roots (e.g., carrots) and bulbs (e.g., onions). What a fulfilling session! 🌍 Our workshop on “Advancing Sustainable Agricultural Practices in Africa with AI” at #AfriCHI2025 was more than a conversation — it was a convergence of ideas, disciplines, and communities working toward inclusive and sustainable futures for African agriculture. We hosted this session to explore how AI, sustainability, and local knowledge can intersect to empower farmers and strengthen resilience across the continent. The dialogue reaffirmed that technology alone isn’t the answer — collaboration, cultural grounding, and shared learning are.
