On enchaîne.

A Day of Purpose, Passion, and Possibility at HBKU Innovation Hub Today at Hbku Innovation Hub org reminded me why entrepreneurship matters. Ten startups. Ten visions. Ten founders stepping into the arena. I had the privilege of judging alongside Hussein Alnuweiri , Nada M. Al Balam - MBA , Marcel D. and Ahmad Nazzal . It wasn’t just a pitch session; it was a room full of courage, ideas, and conviction. We saw an agritech platform diagnosing crop diseases using AI to help farmers increase yields. A luxury-sharing club redefining access over ownership. An AI-enabled medical mattress preventing pressure ulcers in hospitals and homes. Fintech remittances challenging cost and friction. Behavioral biometrics replacing OTPs through identity recognition. AI tools that assess presentations in real-time. A mindful parenting platform supporting families. A car repair diagnosis app. A fitness rehab motion-tracking app. Centralized medical records for interoperability and patient control. Different industries. Same heartbeat: solve real problems. What impressed me most wasn’t the technology, it was the clarity of purpose. Again and again, we emphasized the fundamentals: Trust builds adoption. Strategy builds scaling. Execution builds the business. We encouraged founders to: Define their role early, technologist or manufacturer. Leverage B2B and white-label models for faster adoption. Treat “data strategy” as the business model, not a slide at the end. Focus on partnerships, regulatory readiness, and measurable pilots. Success doesn’t come from big ideas, it comes from validated ones. But beyond the frameworks, what made the day special was the vulnerability. Founders weren’t pitching slides. They were sharing their stories, their lived experiences, and the reasons these problems mattered to them. You could feel it. HBKU Innovation Hub didn’t just host an event. They created a space where possibility could take its first breath. To the founders: well done. You took the step most people only dream about. You started. And that’s how every great story begins. Market access shouldn’t be a barrier for farmers. In Cameroon, many small-scale farmers still struggle to sell their produce fairly. They rely on local markets or middlemen who often underpay them — leaving them with little reward for their hard work. That’s why we built Freshfarm CAMEROON — a digital platform connecting farmers directly to ready buyers and retailers. No middlemen. No underpricing. Just fair trade, fast access, and more value for our farmers. At Freshfarm CAMEROON, we believe in empowering the people who feed us. Join us in transforming agriculture — one connection at a time. #AgriTech #CameroonAgriculture #FreshFarm #FarmersFirst #DigitalFarming #MarketAccess #SupportLocalFarmers #FoodSecurity

Transforming the Agri-Space Through AI, Collaboration, and Purpose Last month, I had the privilege of representing Chill-Zone Logistics, an organization dedicated to strengthening agricultural value chains and improving financial access for smallholder farmers, at the #AgForumAfrica hosted by #ImpactHubNairobi. The forum brought together diverse thought leaders and impact-driven organizations all united by one vision: to leverage AI and technology to revolutionize how Africa grows, finances, and sustains agriculture. Why it matters: Over 70% of Africa’s population depends on small-scale farming for their livelihood. Yet, access to finance, data, and stable markets remains a huge challenge. AI-powered solutions can transform this reality by improving credit scoring, productivity analytics, and farmer-centered digital ecosystems. Key takeaways: ⏩Africa must build its own data-driven models that reflect our local realities instead of importing solutions that don’t fit our context. ⏩AI, data analytics, and partnerships can redefine agrifinance and ensure inclusive growth for farmers. ⏩Collaboration between financiers, innovators, and agri-leaders is the engine of agricultural transformation. My contribution: I volunteered to spearhead a session on individual and collective action, focusing on how collaboration can reshape the agri-space. It was wonderful to connect in person with Penny Musengi, Janet Kuteli Mitchell Odili Graham Benton Stephen Kiiru Alexander Valeton and many other ecosystem champions leading transformative change across Africa’s agriculture and finance landscape. Next steps for agrispace in Kenya: Co-developing a structured roundtable with clear milestones to align efforts across stakeholders. Deepening our commitment to AI integration, financial inclusion, and farmer empowerment within the value chain. Call to Action: Let’s collaborate to: ✅ Empower smallholder farmers through data and innovation. ✅ Drive inclusive financing and food system resilience. ✅ Build sustainable agri-solutions that feed the continent and fuel its growth. Because when we invest in our farmers, we invest in the future of Africa. #ChillZoneLogistics #AgForumAfrica #ImpactHubNairobi #AlphaMundi #Dalberg #AceliAfrica #MercyCorpsAgriFin #KineticCapital #AFC #Agritech #AIForGood #AgriFinance #FinancialInclusion #SustainableAgriculture #SmartFarming #AgriInnovation #TechForGood #CollaborationForImpact #ImpactLeadership #FutureOfFarming #InnovationInAction #SDGs #GreenGrowth #DigitalAgriculture #AgriTransformation #RuralDevelopment #PurposeDrivenLeadership

Highlights from #AgricultureSummitAfrica2025 🌾 I had the opportunity to represent Extension Africa at our exhibition booth for the just‑concluded summit. There, we showcased how we link agro‑companies and businesses with last‑mile farmers — and vice versa, bridging gaps across the agricultural value chain and delivering agribusiness consultancy. I also connected with enthusiastic stakeholders—farmers, agritech innovators, investors, and policymakers sparking conversations that have the potential for genuine collaborations. We rekindled old partnerships and forged new ones that electrifies our mission. I left inspired and excited for what’s next. I can’t wait for next year’s summit to showcase even greater impact. #Agribusiness #Agriculture #Networking #ExtensionAfrica #ASA2025

In Italy, there’s a saying: “braccia rubate all’agricoltura” (“arms stolen from agriculture”), used ironically for someone who’s thought to be not quite fit for intellectual work, as if they’d be more useful working the land instead. 🧑🏼‍🌾 But after spending the past year working on Smart Agriculture projects, I’ve realized how wrong that stereotype really is. Today, agriculture is where tradition meets innovation, shaping sustainability and the future of our communities. 🌾🐏 Maybe it’s time to flip the saying into “cervelli rubati all’agricoltura” (“brains stolen from agriculture”), for all the bright minds who could bring innovation to this sector, but end up chasing more “glamorous” paths instead. 🧠 ✨ P.S. Today’s office view: countryside near Dorgali, in the heart of Sardinia. While performing some maintenance on the AGROS monitoring system, I’m also recharging my own batteries! 🔋 ☀️ #Agriculture #SmartAgriculture #IoT #Research #AGROS #Sardegna

🚨 90% of farmers in India are facing a labour shortage Rural-to-urban migration is accelerating fast—nearly 19% today, and projected to push over 40% of our population into cities by 2030 (from 34% just a few years ago). As millions move in search of stable income, farm labor availability has dropped by nearly 25% in 2025, putting pressure on: ⏳ Crop timelines 💰 Farming costs 🌾 National food security Meanwhile: 📈 Labor wages are rising sharply 🚜 Mechanization remains slower than global benchmarks 👴 The average farmer is aging, as youth choose city jobs If these trends continue, by 2035, India may face: ❗ Serious seasonal labor shortages ❗ Increased cost of cultivation ❗ Reduced rural income stability ❗ Threats to food production resilience But this future is not fixed. We can reshape it — starting now. 🌱 Strengthening rural livelihoods 🤝 Enabling resource-sharing models like Raithan 🚜 Increasing access to mechanization + digital service platforms 🎓 Upskilling rural youth for agri-service careers These are the steps that keep farming viable, villages strong, and families together. It’s time to invest in rural futures that inspire our youth to stay, contribute, and thrive. 🌾 #Raithan #RuralRevival #FarmersFirst #FoodSecurity #AgriTech #LaborGap #SustainableFarming #FutureOfAgriculture #RuralYouth #SmartFarming #India2035
