I have just had the opportunity to spend an unforgettable week in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam as part of the RMIT Business Beyond Borders Study Tour, and the experience has been both inspiring and transformative.
Over seven days, we visited several innovative organisations including The Sentry, SPARK Hub, TMA Solutions, AusCham, Al Fresco’s Group, NAB Innovation Centre, Orlar Sustainable Farms, and Tim Corporation where we also had a chocolate making session guided by Olivier Nicod, a two star Michelin chocolatier. Each place showcased the exciting growth happening in Vietnam, a country where technology, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility are not only values but everyday practice.
From blockchain applications to agritech advancements, I had the opportunity to see real world uses of the technologies I am particularly interested in. It was inspiring to witness how quickly Vietnam rebuilt itself post-war, and how it has transformed into one of the most innovation driven cities in Southeast Asia. The atmosphere in Ho Chi Minh City is electric, and you can feel the potential everywhere.
What made this trip truly special were the people. I connected with students from Melbourne, Vietnam, and Singapore, and with the teachers who made this program meaningful. I left the tour with friendships, perspectives, and memories that I know will stay with me for a very long time.
This experience helped place business, and business technology, into context. It strengthened my passion for innovation, global learning, and the pursuit of meaningful work with purpose.
Amazing food, amazing people, and an amazing city.
I feel very grateful to have had this opportunity.
