Two days of pitches, conversations and perspectives on the evolving innovation ecosystem of Eastern India.
It was a privilege to be part of VEATS 2026, organised by The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) and ThinkAg, on 4–5 August.
The first day offered an encouraging glimpse into the quality and ambition of emerging ventures from the region, with startups presenting across agriculture, food and deep-tech applications. The second day brought together an accomplished group of investors, ecosystem practitioners and industry stakeholders for a candid discussion on capital, scale, innovation and the future of agri-food entrepreneurship.
One thought that stayed with us from the two days is that Eastern and North-Eastern India have significant entrepreneurial and innovation potential, but remain relatively underserved by institutional capital and ecosystem connectivity.
For agri-food ventures in particular, however, capital is only one part of the equation. The bigger challenge is often bridging the journey from:

This requires stronger connections between founders, investors, corporates, FPOs, research institutions, incubators and other ecosystem participants—along with capital that is appropriate to the stage and nature of the business.
A sincere thank you to BCC&I and ThinkAg for creating a platform that brings these stakeholders together and helps shine a light on the innovation emerging from the region.
